Justice Department contacts Colorado officials about cannabis cases
President Donald Trump’s aides have publicly threatened a crackdown on states that have legalized marijuana — and the new White House administration may already be taking steps to make good on that pledge, according to an email obtained by International Business Times.
The correspondence showed a Justice Department official requesting information about marijuana cases from the state Attorney General’s office in Colorado — one of seven states where voters have passed ballot measures to legalize the recreational use of cannabis. The email came just after both a top White House official and U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions reiterated the Trump administration’s opposition to marijuana legalization at the state level.
fuck off
I'm sure Colorado is going to be very happy about the feds trying to hurt their schools and tourism industry.
Anyone notice how all of the federal governments attempts to impose its will on state governments or to remove stuff only happen after trump tweets?
I genuinely believe that white house aides just sit around waiting for trump to tweet something and then spend the rest of their time attempting to turn trumps showerthoughts and opinions into coherent policy and law. Or otherwise use these tweets as a pretext to introduce actions they weren't sure they would be able to if trump didn't test the waters on twitter first.
States rights was something Sessions championed for many years.
Now we can all see just how facile this geriatric human waste bucket really is. Power grubbing fuck.

Frankly the whole "States Rights" thing is less about any true rights, and more about being allowed to fuck over innocents who aren't hurting anything beyond fucked up values of others.
Politico later reported that Sessions privately reassured Republican senators that a marijuana crackdown was not imminent.
ya not imminent but still coming.
I know of some stoner Trump supporters. Were very adamant that he was the best choice for pro-weed.
Excellent news.
The weed voyage from British Columbia to Washington State is gonna completely reverse in the next two years and it's hilarious.

would you mind explaining why a former campaigner for "States rights" who is now in the federal government and has power over the states, is so quick to fold on "States Rights"?
I don't get how these people can be actively trying to stop something the majority of the populace voted to allow... isn't that, like, very much against democracy?

Colorado is already ahead of the curve in that regard.
How fucked up is it that the war on drugs and the crackdown on Marijuana specifically has been proven to be a shallow facade disguising an attack on republican political enemies and yet it's STILL GOING

Since when did these people care about democracy
The President didn't even win democratically

Three million Clinton voters would like to have a word with you...
Telling, though, how "states' rights" disappears as soon as it's politically inconvenient.
state's rights?
Your States rights end where my Good Christian Beliefs begin
