My mothers computer is getting very obsolete and I would like to build her a new one.
The thing is I would like to make the case... a pumpkin. Her hobby is growing giant pumpkins so I thought it would be appropriate, but right now that's besides the point.
For such a small build I would think you would need a mini or micro ATX motherboard such as http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131396
Being as that board is 6.75" X 6.75" I think it could fit inside a Styrofoam pumpkin (I wasn't going to use a real one).
My question is though, would that board in particular be good for this build and what other parts would I need for a build like this. I live in the United States and have a price range of up to $550
A...pumpkin?
I'm sorry.
Please post pictures when your build is done.
I'll be sure to.
My mom is really into Halloween and stuff of that nature
Mini-ITX is the biggest you'll get in there if it a standard pumpkin size... Make it vent out of the eyes and put some LED's in there.

It's a low end pc that only costs $227.94
You said you wanted to do the case and everything, Go ahead and good luck.
Get a AMD.
Urm point on pumpkins:
1) They grow mouldy and shrivle over a few days and with a hot ass computer in there it will just make matters worst.
Two they are circular so it will be hard to get a motherboard in there
A fake pumpkin... If you read the OP.
Oh right my bad.

I would like some newer parts so it could last longer, I'm around a $500 budget and I want this to last for awhile.
[editline]03:36PM[/editline]
Also with preferably an AMD processor
Yeah, at your budget, AMD is better.

Just because the part models aren't new doesn't mean they wont last long. Anyway I'm just hazarding a guess here but wouldn't all she do would be: Go on facebook, Check email, general browsing and check lolcats. that would EASILY do it all and those parts will last a while, Guaruntee'd it will run win 7 and vista so don't worry about that and I don't really think she would run games on it, if so just throw in a cheapy ati 4500 or something.

All she will use it for is email and stuff of that nature, so would I even need a gpu or could I just keep the integrated graphics?
Integrated Graphics x1
Just reformat the HDD in maybe 2-3 years, and watch it go fast as ever again...
