I have been trying to build a gaming PC, then I showed it to my friend, and he said I wouldn't be able to max out Metro 2033. Can someone build me the cheapest build that could max out Metro 2033?
dual gtx 480 isn't cheap.
What are your current specs?
dx11 as well? shits gonna be expensive

Hardly anyone can max out Metro 2033. You need like dual GTX480 (@ 1920x1080).
So a single 5850 won't max it out for 1920x1080?
So a single 5850 won't max it out for 1920x1080?
Not even close. Like everyone said you'll need more like 5970/480 to max it fully. Still Im happy with the eyecandy that my 5850 is able to run.
Isn't this collegegrad's 10th thread about a build?
Dual 5850 can do it flawlessly, with every setting maxed. (1920 x 1080)
So a single 5850 won't max it out for 1920x1080?
Not with DirectX 11 Better performances with DX9 (maybe 10) even on very high settings.
is 1 game really worth all the money?
Hardly anyone can max out Metro 2033. Anyway at 1080p with all settings max (No AA/No DOF) Tessellation on, I get 30+ FPS, with occasional dips into the high 20s. i7930 @ 4Ghz Single GTX470 @ 700mhz core 6gb of ddr3 1600mhz Ram.
Yeh i should try out Metro 2033, is it any good?
I got a dual 4870 1GB and it maxes out Metro 2033 with AAA on 1680x1050 with an average of 48 FPS. (33 low) (60 max) I would go for one 5870 and buy another one later. -Core I5 -5870 -6GB ddr3 ram -500W PSU -Sli capable mobo(2x16) with 6 slots for Dual channel ddr3 ram.
Yeh i should try out Metro 2033, is it any good?
Its a fun game, graphics-wise its amazing in DX11, without tessellation its graphics are OK. Is it worth 50$... no. Is it worth 30$... yeah.
ok i'm going to try it.
ok i'm going to try it.
What are your specs?

They actually recommends getting 4GB+ when running Metro 2033.
It's a great looking game in dx9/10 too, the tesselation isnt really that noticeable when you're actually playing even though it does make the comparison shots bit more better: DX10 w/o tesselation DX11 w/ tesselation That said I do use tesselation on very high with my 5850 since it runs decently(30fps with occasional dips) and the game looks absolutely amazing. Still youre better of with atleast 470 or 5870.
What are your specs?
C2Q q6600 @ 4.1Ghz GTX480 4GBRAM And there's no bottleneck anyway tessellation is really noticable sometimes. When you play games with nice cinematic scenes then it's really cool
good job
What? I got the GTX480 from my friend who works at a PC Shop
What? I got the GTX480 from my friend who works at a PC Shop
I don't think there's any sarcasm there.
If you're talking about running Metro at 2560 with with everything maxed in DX 11, there isn't a build available that can run it at 60f full time no matter what with vsync on, and probably won't be until next year this time.

I know it's a bottleneck but i got it for free and my previous card was an 8600gs so i might aswell use it. Only a little bit of a bottleneck anyway
