Whenever I wiki some fruit, vegetable or material, I ALWAYS see this big-ass green spot. I think its Shanghai or Hong Kong but I'm not sure. Can anyone explain what place this is and why everything gets manufactured and produced and grown here?

It's not Hong Kong you dolt.
That's a small island of the south coast.
Also, big country with big population = big production :downs:
Cheap workforce
picture of a box
That pretty much sums it up.
chinas overpopulation makes getting work hard, so cheap labor
China maked my froots
it's chinese-crappy-plastic fruits.
China has an abundant, cheap, and eager-to-work workforce.
Also, why are you googling fruits and vegetables?
Y'know, if I didn't know better, i'd say this is a rather convenient situation: China produces masses of the world's goods, meaning that the world depends on them to a degree. This could probably mean that they control a sizeable portion of the world's economy, and that they could cripple it to a degree if they so desired.
In other words, China looks as if it's put itself into a position of relative power and control over the world, meaning they've got us by the balls.

Not at all, people like to think that China is the world's factory for everything, but rather it's the world's factory for every stupid little trinket no one wants to make themselves.
Also, you're saying they control a sizable portion of the world's economy? Most companies that made China what it is are stationed overseas, the profits go to them, not China.

China makes a lot more than just 'stupid little trinkets'.
Half the machine you're using was probably made in china.
Overpopulated country, aka cheap labor.
Its cheaper.
Also America is in major debt to China, who do you think funded the filling of the national debt?
[editline]08:18PM[/editline]
In other words they have America by the balls, yes.
Because it's the cheapest place to produce stuff in.
Because China will grow larger.
I have games which are made there. But mostly assembled in Germany.
Sweatshops
Because they can get away with paying Chinese workers excruciatingly low wages, whereas workers virtually anywhere else in the world would not settle for it. So yeah, basically because it's cheaper.
Depends on how you look at it. Lots of products are made in china, but even more components for products are made in china. Somethings are cheaper to make in china so they make the components for that cheap price, then they get shipped to another country where the product is actually made and assembled.
People can make jokes and all that about products that are called "American" being made in china, but this is a global economy and those who don't participate and work in this economy are left behind in the dust. Look at North Korea for example, they decided to cut themselves off from the world and not trade with other countries, it is a gigantic shithole.
outsourcing.
Here in British Columbia our produce comes from of all places Mexico.

Almost everything at Walmart is made in China. And we all know that Walmart doesn't sell any useless trinkets.
Because China will grow larger.
We will get more supplies.

This is what happens:
Other shitty countries come to China, where workers payment is a joke and so do taxes, build their stupid factories, and the local people work on them.

Big country with a large population that makes less than $10 a month. No wonder china number one!
cheap workforce, many people, outsourcing, which means lower cost for the business than producing it in their own land.
