My CPU temp is bat-shit insane, what is the average temp I should be experiencing. I am pretty sure 100celsius is not normal as it is enough to melt human flesh.
Also my HD is running temps of 60.
What the actual fuck?
(temp shown by NHC)
(this is also on my shitty laptop)
This is after 45 mins to 90 mins.
I am scared.
<Queen joke>
---It's about 87 now
FIXED:
There was a 1cm thick layer of dust in the side fan grill.
Both components are now reading 35-40 :D
Hmm what processor are you running?
What CPU Are you running?!
Jesus, Even for a laptop that's way too much, Put a few fans blowing shit onto it.
I have never once in my life seen CPU's get that hot. Including ones running without thermal paste. As long as there is some kind of heatsink on there it should be running less than 100c.
I once installed my heatsink wrong (the clip didn't quite connect all the way and came off after I put it back together), and my CPU nearly instantly got to 85c, but then the computer shut itself down and refused to boot again. maybe you have an odd sensor reading?

I'm pretty sure I don't. It's always been hot but never nearly burned my skin.

Also, this is just after 45min - 1:30 run time.
What is the average temp I should be having for the two devices?
I'll get pics tomorrow.

I would say at idle ~40 under stress, ~70 is ok.
Touch the base of the CPU heatsink. Does it feel like 100 degrees to you?
Touch the base of the CPU heatsink. Does it feel like 100 degrees to you?
It's measured internally using software. Are you asking me to open up the laptop and place my fingers on the heatsink?
Going to take it into a shop tomorrow, not even sure if it is worth it though, but I guess it will be fun to see the look on their faces :D

If you have a laptop, just feel the bottom of the unit, where the heatsink is located and try and determine it that way by the amount of heat given off.

It would be pretty obvious if it was 100c , don't touch it.
Kept it running for a bit, about 87 now.
Maybe it was a software fault? Even still it is really high.

Wow.

Burning skin? That's easy. I get first degree burns at least once a month from my MacBook Pro. You've got nothing to worry about if all it does is burn your skin :downs:
Also going to check bios temp.
Get a fan pad
I get one for EVERY laptop i have
P.S i name them :3

And don't cheap out on it either. I did that and the fan pad melted

has anyone ever told you that you're a terrible poster?
I had this laptop once that had a similar problem, going to like 100c and then shutting off. I used a friend's air compressor. It did help a lot, but I'm still not really sure whether it's a great idea to do this on a laptop.
Running tests now, currently at 64c after 10 mins runtime, boost mode on, and now windows except speccy and this.
Sure it's not F (fahrenheit)?

My internet is capped at 10kbs again because I used my 30 gigs ): Can you link me too some good one so I don't have to wait for hours for pages to load?

It says C
[editline]12th December 2010[/editline]
Definately C with 2 programs
Also is 50 - 65 CPU stable?

50 - 65 will some concider high. If it's a 65nm then it's decent/normal, but if it's 45nm or smaller then it's pretty high.

1 CM of dust?
Do you even know how much 1 CM is?
I think you're exaggerating the amount of dust found in your laptop

1 inch is 2.54 centimeters
I'll get a ruler.
It was like .8 of one ):
Oh fuck...
My i7 once reached 120C because one of the fan screws were loose, and I measured the temperature while rendering something in Vray. (Uses the processor 100%)

Er, are you implying one centimeter is a lot?
