Yes or no? And reasons please.
I say yes.
He's cool and black. :smug:
No
He's black
I think so, Nothing significant has been dug up about him.
I honestly don't picture / view Obama as a president. He's so much of a celebrity that it's so hard to. The media can really just screw stuff up. I mean so what that he's black, cool, good for him, but that's not why we need him.
We need him for help with the war (DO SOMETHING, I haven't heard about progress in months, are they pulling out, staying in, or what?!)
The oh-so-famous and widely accepted Minimum Wage Raises (That should fix unemployment!), Cigarette Taxes (Not going over well with smokers at all, I have SO many pissed of customers when they see the prices of a carton of cigs! I work at a grocery store), also all of those promises to people on Welfare and the like that they won't have to pay for gas, food, housing, medical assistance (which they didn't have to do much of that in the first place, which in most cases is bull), and I have seen nothing of his Int. Healthcare plan or stimulus.
Maybe I don't watch the news enough, maybe I watch the wrong channels when I do (FOX News), maybe you'll call me biased, of course I'm biased! I dare you to find someone who isn't, and don't feed me that BBC IS TOTALLY COOL AND UNBIASED.
I have not heard of anything great coming from him, and nothing horrible either. He's just kind of there, and all over the place for being black. It's kind of a gimmick, he got in and I know he's thinking "shit, now what"
[editline]02:59AM[/editline]
Sorry for the paragraph, not trying to start anything, and please correct me if I'm wrong about something (except the news channel I watch, I personally don't give a shit, I like FOX and that's that)
[editline]02:59AM[/editline]
Again, let me sum up the first post of mine:
The War: What's going on there, what are we doing over there anymore? Are we still looking for Osama Bin Laden? Are we fighting for oil (possibly, and always probable)? Are we trying to restore order (even though there never was any, thus not being able to be restored) over there?
Minimum Wage Raise: I live in FL where the wage is $7.25 an hour, where a lot of the country is still at $6.50 an hour. If you have all of these companies paying people another $0.75 minimum wage all across America, that means that 1/10 people making minimum wage at work will have to be fired due to insufficient company funds. Think about just McDonald's all over the world, if each one lost just 1-2 employees, that's hundreds of thousands of people out of work! I honestly don't see how this helps anybody, plus when we start making more, taxes go up and we start paying more, it doesn't do anything for us as far as I can tell! It's a placebo, "oh I'm making more money!"
Int'l Healthcare: Great Idea, not yet constructed a great plan for it! We'd have to pay taxes out the ass for this, and you have to go on a waiting list (at least people in Canada do!), it's a good idea, but I don't want to pay (any more than I am) for people who are too lazy to get a job's healthcare! I will pay for someone who is seriously disabled, or small children born into a shit family. Not people with working potential but do not do anything with their lives and rely on spoonfeeding from our taxes.
Welfare: Stupid idea, it has been abused like none other. People as mentioned above are just taking our taxes as opposed to working, I mean, what a life! Some people go to prison just so they don't have to work for a good living! They get fed 3 meals a day, have a bed, running water, television, recreational activities, it's the life! I hate it when someone who could be working (ie person who is in their 20's with no disabilities, no highschool diploma, no car), go live at a grocery store like I do, I have none of these (though I do have a car, but it's within walking distance also) and I just got a job at Food Lion. It's not that hard, just try for it, don't let us do the work for you. It's not fair, and not good for America and it's economy.
Cigarette Taxes: Wtf? It's not going to make people stop, though it's obviously because so many Americans are addicted and willing to pay the price to quench the addiction, a great way to make tax money, though not very good for moral.
This is what I think about everything so far. It may not all be Obama alone, but it's just how it stands. He's the one in control, he can change most of this if he'd like.
Cigarette taxes actually do reduce smoking, especially among youth.
Cigarette taxes actually do reduce smoking, especially among youth.
Well, that's great and all, but taxes in general and the way the economy is hurting has raised shoplifting through the roof. 3 counts of shoplifting within the few weeks that I've worked at my store. All of which were just on one of my few 5 hour shifts. Plus a ton of kids trying to buy beer and cigarettes still without proper ID.
I don't even smoke and have enough willpower to keep myself away from that, people think it's just cool to smoke from the damn media anyways, I don't let media pressure get to me.
Like I said, the media can screw things up.

I haven't heard anything about Bin Laden in months. Even when Bush was pres.

This is making the assumption that all businesses just get by, so they have to pay their collective employees the same as they do now, or less.
Some may be fired but you're maximizing it.

Also, too lazy? Healthcare is expensive as fuck now.

That's like saying we should abolish lawsuits because of Stella What's-her-face.
You realize that people on welfare tend to have jobs, but shitty jobs or too many kids to pay for.

It will make people stop, yes, and it will discourage more smokers from starting.
But really what they should do is do what the UK does- cover half the package with "Smoking kills."
Why did you even create this thread? All people are going to do is disagree with each other and it's eventually going to be closed for being a huge flamefest.
Was that your intention?
Seems like it's going well so far.

Yeah for sure, I give my opinion and someone comes in and rapes it with shit that I can disprove. Ahh, but what's really the point, we can argue our asses off, try to share views, but in the long run we'll both leave the argument sore, with no progress made towards agreement, and keep our own stubborn views.
This is why I don't ever get into politics anyways. Plus the shit I said wasn't political even really, it was just news, not politics. I never "blamed" anyone either. So whatev. I'm just gonna watch the thread progressively shitstorm. :D

What do you know about prison? Do not go lecturing people that "oh hey, 3 meals, bed tv, it's the life!" That is a woefully innacurate statement that I despise, especially when someone very close to me is a correctional officer. Do not believe the lies about prison life. You also forgot to tack on constant threat of being beaten, stabbed, getting feces and piss thrown at you, and oh yeah, ITS FUCKING PRISON! WAKE UP, MURDERERS ARE THERE! They did not exactly pick daisies and help old ladies across the street, they do all manner of bad things. Don't you dare pull that goddamn argument out of your ass to make it look that way.
No, and I can't wait until someone kills him.

The reason you can't get into politics is probably that nothing you say makes sense and you just ramble.

Have a fucking heart attack because a teenager on the internet said something won't you?
Let me put it this way, lots of people in prison (not jail, but prison) have pretty damaged lives to begin with, of course murderers, addicts, rapists, all of that good stuff are there. Are you saying there's not a constant threat in the real world? Though I do agree it's much more concentrated and a very unpleasant place to go. They get what they need to live and don't have to pay for it. Let me just say that.

How do I just "ramble" I've put more input on the thread than I've seen from you. Plus this is an opinion thread. Excuse me for being politically incorrect, but I don't give enough of a shit to listen to your side.

Finally, I found someone on FP who isn't a pussy-lipped, bleeding-heart liberal.
Also, rated all of your posts "agree" since you actually know what the fuck you're talking about.

Last time I checked birthing babies wasn't a requirement to live, more like a luxury.

Did Martian Luther King Jr do a good job?
Did Hitler do a good job?

I gave my input on what Obama has sitting in front of him, and gave my opinion on what I thought of each issue.
To answer the question:
He's in the gray area
Most of the leftwingers love uncertain answers, so I thought I'd please you.
Is Obama doing a good job? No. No, I do not think so. It looks like the stimulus went tits up and isn't doing jack. Universal healthcare is a very, very bad idea. Fix the country before figuring out ways to put us more in debt!
[editline]12:56AM[/editline]
And I am not a fucking liberal, goddamn. I could care less about the titles Liberal and Conservative, they have no meaning to me. Doing what is right is.

Though you bitched at me about prison, and I bitched back. I agree with this. You have good moral values, as opposed to political values. I'd rather do something that will in the long run be beneficial to the nation as a whole, not biased. But most of my morals lean strongly to the right.
Sorry for the little argument.
I apologize for getting uptight, my bad.

It's cool man, I would have done it in similar situations too. *no offense taken* Anyways, I'm heading out for the night it's 4 am here. Have a good one.

I agree that people are fucking stupid with kids. And there are the dumbasses who want abstinence only to be taught in the schools.
But what do you want to happen? The kids to starve?
I need to relax and go edit a wiki.

No, I'd much rather pay for the kids than pay for the people going out and having countless children though, we don't need people like that around. We need people who can help the workforce and economy, not people taking taxes and not getting jobs because welfare does it for them. I'm just saying, if you're able to, get a job. If you have a job and still live on welfare, at least you're kind of trying. I just love it when someone on welfare, using WIC, and other government funded programs go walking around with a freaking iPhone and full service for it in a very nice car, but they have yet to fund their family. There's a fine line between wants and needs.
No, he's dragging his feet, although I envision a very bright future for this thread in the DDT after it erupts into a flamewar.
He stole stwole our jobs!
Yes, Obama is trying his best but it is YOU who should help him and your own nation. You can't expect one man to run the whole show now can you. A country isn't made of one president. It consist of many
