• What movies are similar to Blade Runner?

Not necessarily the plot, just the atmosphere and setting. I really like the whole futuristic megacity concept, especially where the lower parts are dirty, downtrodden and crime-ridden while the upper parts are luxurious and clean. I recently watched The Fifth Element, but that movie was way too colourful and crazy, quite ridiculous. It can be animated, I don't care. There really needs to be more of this sort of thing, I wish they'd make a TV series on HBO or AMC or something.
Gits (a.k..a Ghost In The Shell)
If you don't mind b/w and it being a silent movie you could watch the father and mother of all movies about futuristic megacities: Metropolis
What are you talking about the Fifth Element was the best. Total Recall?
Akira
Logan's Run?
Not so much Total Recall. But still awesome :v: I would say... Moon. [editline]02:20PM[/editline] Obviously not style wise
Metropolis (2001) is a little bit similar.
Judge dredd
Gattaca maybe? It's defiantly futuristic with a unique atmosphere and setting.
Blade Runner has a cyberpunk and dystopia setting so I guess you could go through these lists: http://www.imdb.com/keyword/dystopia/ http://www.imdb.com/keyword/cyberpunk/
c17, to some extent although it takes mostly from 1984
Ergo Proxy is an anime, but it's a much more excellent source of philosophy than Bladerunner ever was. It's got a dystopian setting and is filled with robots, philosophy and psychology. You should check it out. Bladerunner was bad imo. The book, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Was wayyy better.
minority report?
Escape from New York. Also, stop trying to be a book to movie elitist, Death0nWings. Bladerunner was a cinematic masterpiece and saying otherwise just makes you look like an idiot. Nevermind the fact that it was merely influenced by that book.
I Robot? Minority report?
Robocop? Hell I'd buy that for a dollar.
Judge Dredd? [editline]09:57PM[/editline]
Metropolis (1927)?
Equilibrium lololololol

I love your avatar, though.
Oh shit, replies. I forgot I made this thread. Thanks guys. Think I'll start with Metropolis.
Equilibrium lololololol
plot = shit action = THE DEFINITION OF EPIC!
plot = shit action = THE DEFINITION OF EPIC!
"In a world devoid of emotion...They still have Fashion sense." and sticks.
plot = shit action = THE DEFINITION OF EPIC!
i beg to differ my good man. the plot was interesting, although i must agree with you that the action was also good. Sean Bean was good in that film.
Equilibrium was a fun movie but the plot holes were just far too numerous to count that it ends up bringing it down considerably.
Read "Androids Dream of Electric Sheep".

It is very much worth a watch just to see the forerunner of sci-fi. I still remember the music to it, even 2 years on.
