Two prisoners have escaped from a jail van after it was ambushed by armed men on the outskirts of Manchester city centre. Kirk Bradley and Tony Downes, both 25, fled after a number of men attacked the van in Trinity Way at about 0830 BST. The pair were being transported to Liverpool Crown Court, where they were on trial. The men, both from Liverpool, stand accused of conspiracy to possess firearms with intent to endanger life. They are also charged with conspiracy to commit criminal damage with intent to endanger life. The gang fled in a Saab, which was found abandoned about a mile away in Barrow Street, Salford. 'Armed men' A security guard was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. A spokesperson for security firm G4S said: "At around 0820 BST, one of our prisoner escorting vehicles was involved in an incident on the outskirts of Manchester. "The vehicle, which was en-route to Liverpool Crown Court carrying two prisoners, was intercepted by several armed men wearing balaclavas. "The men stopped the vehicle, assaulted the driver and forced him to open the vehicle and release the prisoners, who then escaped in another vehicle. "Our crew immediately alerted police. The injured driver, who was struck on the head, has been taken to hospital where his condition is being assessed." Det Sgt Paul Copplestone urged anyone with information to contact Greater Manchester Police. Traffic delays Members of the public are urged not to approach the pair. Det Sgt Copplestone said: "We are sure that this incident was witnessed by many people at a very busy time of the morning. The Saab was driven off towards the M602 motorway. We would urge witnesses to contact us." A spokesman for the prison service confirmed a prisoner escort van, carrying two inmates, had been involved in "an incident". "This is a matter for the police," he added. The incident caused long delays in the area, as Trinity Way is one of the major routes around the city centre.
Just another day in Salford.
Fast Five much?
What exactly does this have to do with PS3 though?
Honestly, I find it funny how they were in for 'firearms offences' read: being within 30 miles of an airsoft gun. Britain's gun laws are so messed up they might as change them to no fun laws.
What exactly does this have to do with PS3 though?
it's like that one mission in gta4~
That's p. hardcore
it's like that one mission in gta4~
Actually, it immediately reminded me of the beginning of GTA3
Actually, it immediately reminded me of the beginning of GTA3
yeah, gta3 too. v:v:v

Using a firearm to commit a crime. I do not see how gun laws come into this, no matter what the gun laws are people can still commit crime using guns. The article even goes into a bit more detail about the crime they are accused of, possession of a firearm with the intent to endanger life. Please tell me how that is "no fun".

That sounds magnificently badass.
You realize you can own a hunting rifle or shotgun in the uk right?
Quiet don't ruin people's general ignorance of UK laws.
G4S symbol always has reminded me of L4D.
You realize you can own a hunting rifle or shotgun in the uk right?
Except you can't use them for self defence, they're for pest control and hunting only. But I thought gun control laws worked? How could this happen?!
You realize you can own a hunting rifle or shotgun in the uk right?
And pistols too. But the limits on them are a little tighter from what I understand.
G4S symbol always has reminded me of L4D.
Always reminds me the guys that come to the local "IKI" to take the cash things from ATMs :colbert:
And pistols too. But the limits on them are a little tighter from what I understand.
pistols were banned in the late 90's. if i remember correctly you can have a revolver with 3 chambers for finishing off a dying animal.
And pistols too. But the limits on them are a little tighter from what I understand.
You can only have a pistol if you keep it in a gun club, you are not allowed to have one at home.
But I thought gun control laws worked? How could this happen?!
yes, because strict gun control is going to prevent EVERY criminal act from occurring please tell me whose argument has ever been that [editline]19th July 2011[/editline]
Except you can't use them for self defence, they're for pest control and hunting only.
where did he ever say or imply that you could use them for self defense out of all the advanced nations, only in america are guns considered tools for self defense
yes, because strict gun control is going to prevent EVERY criminal act from occurring please tell me whose argument has ever been that
Chicago Mayor Daley for one. And banning gun ownership altogether has worked so well for Chicago hasn't it?
England & Wales has the 6th lowest rate of gun homicide in the world. It always pisses me off when Americans say "THOSE POOR BRITISH PEOPLE WITH NO GUNS" We don't want guns We don't need guns No one here gives a shit
