Jaguar Launches their first fully electric SUV inside VR
For the product launch of the I-PACE, Jaguar revealed the electric car to members of the media with a ground breaking social VR experience that brought 66 individuals located across two continents together to share a front row seat for the car company’s next era of automotive design.
Like in reality, I was sitting at a round table, but in VR I was surrounded by five other glowing virtual headsets staring at me, waving their controller, as if to say hello. I swiveled my chair around and that’s when I noticed all the other tables. The entire room of tables and guests all wearing a Vive were now on a giant virtual stage at the same time.
I was already impressed with the live captured host kicking off the event among a sea of 54 other guests sitting at tables. But then he followed it up by announcing that a similar event in London was also taking place at the same time and they would be joining us. Immediately a few more tables filled with virtual guests appeared, again all waving their controller hand to say hello. All 66 of us located across two continents were now together in one live environment for the reveal of Jaguar’s first-ever electric vehicle.
When the final reveal came, the giant sheet used during traditional car reveals was instead a Vive headset. Taking the headset off your face revealed the physical concept model of the Jaguar I-PACE parked on the stage in front of you. And like that, we were all back to reality with a heavy round of applause.
Tech specs of the car:
It is claimed that the new car will have a range from a single charge of 310 miles, and will be able to accelerate from 0-62mph in about four seconds.
The all-wheel-drive I-Pace will use a pair of electric motors that will produce close to 400bhp and 516lb ft of torque, all powered by a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Jaguar boasts that it will have “precise, agile driving dynamics as yet unseen on an electric vehicle”.
Similar to Tesla’s initiative with the Model3 electric car, Jaguar is inviting potential customers to register their interest online at its website. Using a similar method, Tesla secured more than 400,000 pre-orders for the Model3, despite it not being ready for delivery until the end of 2017.

The vast majority of articles seem to mention Imagination being the producers, but I can tell you that the powerhouse of content production was done by an external studio which are seemingly not being credited :~)
Nice to see more companies getting into making EVs. I'm guessing the range is probably the NEDC range though so realistically probably a decent bit less range. Hopefully it sells well for them.
Disgusting, even for a concept car.
Snip double post

It's not that bad

it's nice car
I expected something similar to the F-Pace, this looks like shit.
For the record here's an F-Pace:

Electric car concepts usually look like garbage but what's wrong with this? If anything I'd say it looks better than the common car.
Jaguar can never design wheels right for me. The body is fine, but the wheels ruin it (weird shape, also too much wheel and too little tyre).
Seems their solution to electric cars having efficiency problems at high motor RPMs is to make the tires bigger and design the aesthetics of the car around that. I think they pulled it off pretty well.

Bigger wheels also = higher drag coefficient = high energy consumption. 0.29 is pretty high for an EV.

It looks like the fetal alcohol syndrome child of a BMW X6 and a Jag

But I saw a model 3 on the road just last week.

If you did see a Model 3 it was one of the few prototypes they have been using for events. There's only a couple out there.

I don't really care either way but it just looks like any other SUV to me? Hell the Nissan Juke looks worse. As a Jaguar? Maybe not, but a general car it looks fine.

Lol, I think you meant crossover, the Juke was never considered an SUV either.
This is an SUV:

That thing in the OP is definitely not, it's a butt-ugly CUV.

Here's the full "VR Experience" if anyone's interested in the VR stuff. Sorry about the annoying lets play shit.
