Authorities in a parched western Indian state sprinkled water in the streets and awaited the arrival of a special water train on Saturday, two days after temperatures reached a record-high 51 degrees Celsius (124 degrees Fahrenheit). Several hospitals in the desert state of Rajasthan, which has been hit worst by a heat wave that has spread to many parts of India, have set aside beds to treat heatstroke victims. Television video Saturday showed heatstroke patients being wheeled in on stretchers, with paramedics covering them with ice packs and pouring water on them.
(...)
Authorities have issued a list of precautions, urging people to stay indoors, shun unnecessary travel in the sun, increase intake of water and seek medical attention if they feel the symptoms of heatstroke.
source: http://www.wsj.com/articles/western-indian-state-tries-to-cope-with-record-heat-wave-1463846290 images from this source: http://edition.cnn.com/2015/06/01/asia/india-heat-wave-deaths/
Pfft, I live on Mercury and this is a mild day for me
I fucking knew it
In all seriousness, though, heat so intense the fucking roads melt? Sounds like climates the world over are getting unstable.
This is fine...
holy fuck 51C damn thats hot
In all seriousness, though, heat so intense the fucking roads melt? Sounds like climates the world over are getting unstable.
This -has- happened before, but it's getting far more frequent.
While I can agree that being in the 50's is too much, the humidity would on its own be MURDER.
Didn't the roads in Britain melt last year or the year before?
And meanwhile here it's been rainy, comfortable temperature and cloudy for more than a month, when now usually it should be hot. I like this particular change.
I remember reading somewhere a lot of Indian roads use too much tar in their road mixes, which makes them get soft easier.

They're not 'getting' unstable, they're already there The past decade or so has been record high global temperature after record high global temperature, this stuff is less unstable, more inevitable.
