Tianhe-1, meaning Milky Way, achieved a computing speed of 2,570 trillion calculations per second, earning it the number one spot in the Top 500 (www.top500.org) survey of supercomputers. The Jaguar computer at a US government facility in Tennessee, which had held the top spot, was ranked second with a speed of 1,750 trillion calculations per second. Tianhe-1 does its warp-speed 'thinking' at the National Centre for Supercomputing in the northern port city of Tianjin - using mostly chips designed by US companies. Another Chinese system, the Nebulae machine at the National Supercomputing Centre in the southern city of Shenzhen, came in third. The United States still dominates, with more than half of the entries in the Top 500 list, but China now boasts 42 systems in the rankings, putting it ahead of Japan, France, Germany and Britain.
I want to watch porn at the speed of 2,570 trillion calculations
but can it run vista
Id swap my comp with theirs anyday
Sweet, I can run Crysis on there!
Really damn late.
14,336 Xeon X5670 processors and 7,168 Nvidia Tesla M2050 general purpose GPUs. Holy jesus
Really damn late.
how?
It should be used to run facepunch.
But can it run doom?
14,336 Xeon X5670 processors and 7,168 Nvidia Tesla M2050 general purpose GPUs. Holy jesus
And to think, that in a manner of a few decades or less, this much proccessing and graphical power will be found in small electronic devices.
Further proof China will rule the world in the 21st century.
^^ yeah no
Further proof China will rule the world in the 21st century.
Until the workers get sick of it and fuck everything up.
Until the workers get sick of it and fuck everything up.
That's when they become the largest consumer and get even more powerful.
That's great but can it play Crysis? If not it's a piece of shit and throw it away.
So what do they use this one for?
I've been to China a few times. Filthy place to be honest.
Render some fractals with that shit
I don't really see the hype. It's not like its one single computer. It would have hundreds of processors.
I've been to China a few times. Filthy place to be honest.
Welcome to Shanghai. You'd be the same if 80% of your countries infrastructure was knocked down and replaced in less than 15 years, income for families drastically increases, access to 21st century technology you didn't even know existed landed on your lap, and being part of the massive urbanization which is happening right now. By 2030, a billion people there will be living in 'larger-than-new york' sized cities, most of which are suited with advanced infrastructure, broadband internet access, revolutionary mass-transit systems, plus many other things. America is in a mess, and will even moreso be with a republican majority removing cuts in infrastructure, science, and even fucking education. Budget/Tax cuts doesn't remove deficits and debt, it's simple math.
in a week its going to be outdated, thats just the thing about computers
Fuck living in China, where the fascist government forces people not to have more than 1 child.
Fuck living in China, where the fascist government forces people not to have more than 1 child.
Wrong on both accounts. China isn't fascist, they just have a lot of censorship, and you are allowed to have more than one child. The people that are affected by the one child policy (only 35% of the country) simply have to pay fees to have additional children.
The real question is, can it decode a number stations message?
It's gonna break in 2 days, stupid chinese crap
Fuck living in China, where the fascist government forces people not to have more than 1 child.
It's not forced on them, they can have as much children as they like. They're just promoted and advertised not to have as much children, and it's become such a noticed thing there that it's now a nation-adopted cliche not to like people with more than one child.
Wrong on both accounts. China isn't fascist, they just have a lot of censorship, and you are allowed to have more than one child. The only websites they tend to block that you probably use is Youtube and Facebook, each of which is replaced by similar or even better alternatives: Youku and QQ. Youku is better than Youtube because there isn't any copyright rubbish, you can watch complete films or show seasons on there, there's no video size limit, and it's tied to other internet networks which is like a web of communities (like google and youtube). QQ, on the other hand, is more controversial because there's dozens of websites to download it from, most of which hide viruses or malware along with it. Besides that, it's like a mix of your ordinary Instant Messenger except it has some forum-like qualities to it which can result in a better community with it's already 400,000,000+ members.
But can it simulate, in physicality, a computer with in itself of which that can play Crysis?

Censorship aside, we can both agree it's not fascism.
