Brexit: UK should 'shake Dublin's cage' over Irish border

Couldn't decide if this should go into one of the other threads I've made recently but:
A DUP MP has accused Dublin's government of acting "disgracefully" over the Irish border and he urged the UK to "shake their cage" in EU talks.
Ian Paisley said the UK should stop "pussy-footing around" if Dublin keeps on frustrating the will of UK citizens.
The Irish PM wanted Brexit trade talks stalled until the border was protected.
Mr Paisley said Britain should make fishing policy talks as "long, tedious and hard" for Dublin as possible, unless they started acting differently.
"They (the Irish government) need to start acting in a mature way and deal with us as good neighbours and as friends instead of trying to frustrate the will of the people of the United Kingdom by saying they want a united Ireland; that they want this part of the sovereign territory of Her Majesty's Government to remain out with the rest of the agreements," he said.
"And I think that needs to be spelt out loud and clear, and if Her Majesty's Government isn't - for diplomat reasons - prepared to say it publicly, I hope that you're starting to shake their cage internally and privately in these negotiations."

He added: "Frankly, a lot of people are really exasperated with the attitude of the Irish government."
Mr Paisley addressed his comments to Northern Ireland Office Minister Chloe Smith, but she made no direct response.
I mean people are really exasperated with the attitude of the British government, and of people like you.
You know, the other stories I've posted have been from UKIP people and weird Labour MPs, not anyone really that relevant.
However this comes from Ian Paisley Jr. (BBC should be referring to him as that - Ian Paisley Snr. might be dead but the distinction needs to be made) (oh and you don't want to hear my opinion of Ian Paisley Snr. - could rant all day about him), who is an important member of the DUP due to being the son of one of their founders and being an MP for North Antrium - i.e., he's in the confidence and supply deal with the Conservatives.
This man has power, and wants the British government to threaten us - the United Kingdom's closest neighbour. Northern Ireland's neighbour. The ones that, if they actually put down in writing how they would solve the border issue and wouldn't pussyfoot about whether they want a hard border by leaving the custom's union, or whether they don't want a hard border by staying in the custom's union, would be batting *for* them in the negotiations.
In my opinion - this doesn't represent the interest of people in Northern Ireland as well, and only shows that Brexiters have a horrible attitude to Ireland.
One that's going to cost them very much.
you'd think that britain's ancient prejudices against the irish would be buried by now, nope, just a little shake and suddenly back to britain trying to bully and dominate their neighbor.
this is the same trumpian bullshit we have across the pond, except britain is nowhere near a position of strength in this case
this sounds diplomatic and non-adversarial at all!
:hammered:

I don't think the DUP are representative of Britain at all. Especially because they are a fringe party based in Northern Ireland, and are rooted in unionism and opposition to republicanism in Ireland.
How to start the 2nd Troubles, step 1!
Seriously, this could easily cause the Good Friday Agreements too get thrown off the wall by the larger political groups which have been keeping their dicks under wraps for the last two decs.
man fuck these people
