The 28-year-old Newcastle-under-Lyme born strongman became the first man to lift half a tonne – equating to 1,102lbs or 80st – at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, but he immediately collapsed afterwards and revealed that he had burst blood vessels in his head.

"That nearly killed me,” Hall said in a video chat for the Yorkshire Evening Post afterwards. “The pressure on my body was surreal. I passed out after. I had nose bleeds. It's not healthy doing something like that.

"But I've done it. I'm sure it will be in the history books for a very long time.”
Hall believes that the mark will stand for the foreseeable future – if broken at all – after he upped the ante by a hefty five stone. Earlier in the day, Hall and two others had already broken his existing record, but Hall couldn’t help but up the ante. However, despite claiming that he doesn’t want to do such a lift again, he admitted that if anyone breaks his feat he would be tempted to try and lift even heavier.
That's a lot of kilograms.
Bit late but still an amazing achievement!! No surprise it actually nearly killed him after though.
he's absolutely mad in every context but you've gotta give him credit for that
Joining the 1000lb club with just one lift, and then some.
And here I am, unable to lift even 50kg. This is fucking insane.
I've seen this guy around, he lives in the same town as me. Even goes to the same gym some of my friends do
it's crazy that doing it basically nearly killed him though. I really can't imagine anyone wanting to break the record after seeing what it did to him
that lift destroyed him. Congrats on the lift bro
A true inspiration to all lifters
Absolutely incredible to think a man can do that for even a few seconds.
A full 70 lbs more than the previous record. (also held by him)
beast......
He looks like a goron
He looks like a goron
fuck me he pretty much might as well be
He looks like he should be in the next season of GOT
he's literally male zarya with less pink hair
I wish this was "natural" for us
That it didn't have any health risks
I wonder if we ever will pull 1000kg

If you play Overwatch at all. Zarya's lift record is 512 kg and that is set in like 3000 something at least. But yah know, video games.:v:

Doubt it, if 500kg's was giving him nose bleeds then the ammount of pressure on his blood vessels from 1000kg's wouldn't be good at all. The brain would likely be starved of oxygen

offtopic but that 512kg refers to the 3 big lifts(squat, bench, deadlift)
eddie hall almost hit that with just the deadlift, this guy is a monster
If the pressure is that surreal at 500kg, I wonder what people like Louis Cyr or Paul Anderson felt, considering they backlifted 4x that (1976kg) and nearly 6x that (2,840kg) respectively.

Even if I saw them do those lifts with my own eyes and had proof that they were indeed lifting that much weight, I don't think I would ever believe it.
I clicked on the video and I was completely unprepared for how fucking dwarfy that guy is, he looks like he should be ruling a mountain hall with a gigantic hammer at his side.
And here I am, unable to lift even 50kg. This is fucking insane.
... How? Genuinely curious, I was tossing 50lb feed sacks when I was 12 so maybe my upbringing is skewing my perspective a bit but surely you can lift 110lbs just... I don't know, by default. Or maybe you're just being hyperbolic and I'm missing it, I don't know. 110lbs is like a single girlfriend or two six-year-olds or five corgis.
Surely you can lift five corgis.

If they stop being such hyperactive little shits, perhaps.

I think even if you had the muscular strength to lift 1000kg the other structures in your body wouldnt be able to hold up. You'd probably rip your arms off, snap your spine, dislocate your shoulders/knees/hips or something along those lines.

It won't be too tough once we get robotic bodies to put our brains in. The future is gonna be outta sight, man.
I could have sworn Zydrunas Savickas did more than that.

Yeah he did. But on tyres so it's not exactly the same height.

Christ imagine how far he could toss a midget.
I was looking up strongman stuff and I found that the 2004 winner of the log lift is now...

if you just sit on your ass it's kinda hard. I was weak as fuck and got pain in my back just from lifting a car tire before I started lifting.
