Here we talk about choppers and jets and propeller planes. But mostly military.
The first use of any form of flying vehicle in combat was in World war 1. They were used mainly for recon. But later on, they became a bomber, where the person behind throws artillery shells or grenades on the people below. People started to use handheld weapons such as rifles, shotguns and submachine guns to try and shoot the other planes. Then, some guy created a wonderful invention. The Interrupter gear. It allowed pilots to fire at other aircraft without shooting at their own propellers. This spawned the dogfight, and pilots start to make air tactics to flank the enemy. Jump forward to world war 2, the design have changed quite alot. Now, it is a monoplane, which means it had 1 wing instead of 2. The designs were sleeker, and the planes had more powerful engines and guns. Now, fighters can be armed with cannons! Medium and heavy bombers are also invented and tested, with heavier bombs and thicker armour.
When world war 2 started, the germans ruled the skies. Thanks to the spanish civil war, they were able to produce better planes than the soviets. The germans were also good in ground attack fighters, Like the stuka, a dive bomber, which produces a loud screeching noise when it dives.
In the pacific theater, the japanese were ruling with their zero fighters. It had good speed, rate of climb, and turning. As a result, most allied fighters were outmatched by these. The allies managed to capture several fighters and made the hellcat, which finally could match against the zeros.
The MIG-15

It may look ugly, but these jets are scary. First used in the korean war, they were the first jets to be in a dogfight. They are armed with powerful 20mm cannons, and can be arm with other bombs and rockets. They were great against B-29 bombers, but weren't that great against allied fighters.
The F-15 eagle

Just look at the plane and you know its awesome. It is one of the best jets in the world, until the F-22 takes over the position. It had 2 powerful engines, great rate of climb, speed and weapons. It have many variants, from bombers to ground attack fighters to air to air fighters. They are mostly used and seen in the Iraq invasion of 2003 and the gulf war in 1999. The plane has known to be darn sturdy, A pilot flew this plane safetly with both of its wings chipped off.
The A-10 thunderbolt warthog

Meet the 21st century stuka. This mean plane is armed with a Large 30mm cannon that fires depleted uranium rounds. It is also armed with unguided rockets, iron bombs, napalm bombs, cluster bombs, air to air missiles and air to ground missiles. This plane is made for air to ground, and its large cannon can rip apart any tank armor. It is also well armoured, being able to defend itself from small arms fire to anti air cannons. This plane can fire 2100 to 4200 shells per minute with the GAU-8! Its pretty much a flying tank of doom!
A6M Zero Fighter

The fighter that represents japan. A great plane, armed with machineguns and 20mm cannons, ruled the pacific in its early years of the war. It has an awesome speed and agility, but left the plane unarmoured. The only upper hand early US fighters had was the rate of climb, and the armour. A japanese ace described just how strong the US fighters are:
I had full confidence in my ability to destroy the Grumman and decided to finish off the enemy fighter with only my 7.7 mm machine guns. I turned the 20mm. cannon switch to the 'off' position, and closed in. For some strange reason, even after I had poured about five or six hundred rounds of ammunition directly into the Grumman, the airplane did not fall, but kept on flying. I thought this very odd—it had never happened before—and closed the distance between the two airplanes until I could almost reach out and touch the Grumman. To my surprise, the Grumman's rudder and tail were torn to shreds, looking like an old torn piece of rag. With his plane in such condition, no wonder the pilot was unable to continue fighting! A Zero which had taken that many bullets would have been a ball of fire by now.
And in the battle of midway, the japanese suffered heavy losses, which includes their skilled pilots. Later on in the war, the allies managed to get their hands on it, and tested it. And because of it, they managed to make fighters able to match the zero, like the hellcat. The japanese hastily trained pilots, and the US start to shoot down more and more of the planes. And the US pilots slowly became more skilled. Below is one of the opinions from the US pilot who had flown it:
Capt. Eric Brown, CBE, DSC, AFC, RN, Chief Naval Test Pilot and C.O. Captured Enemy Aircraft Flight recalls how he was impressed when they tested the plane. “I don’t think I have ever flown a fighter that could match the rate of turn of the Zero. The Zero had ruled the roost totally and was the finest fighter in the world until mid-1943.
Fighter jets are pretty much the most awesome feats of human engineering ever.
Maybe second to like, space shuttles.
It kinda sucks that we always make the coolest stuff when we're trying to kill or outdo each other somehow.

Fuck that, have they ever strapped a gun to one of those?

BUT THEY NEED TO

this thread is quite short, and those napalm bombs that the A10 uses are banned by the Geneva-Conventions so what ever website you got your infomation of was also incapable of checking its research.
also you say the F22 rapter has a "advanced helmet with a HUD system", it dose but so dose very nearly every aircraft the US airforce uses, $150,000 a piece

the space shuttle is a huge hunk of metal. it already takes tonnes of fuel to take off, so adding a gun to it would make it even more expensive. launching one of these probably costs 5 times the amount of f-22's
Wait, wait, wait you say that the first jet fighters were used in korean war or did you mean that the first jet fighter on jet fighter dog fights were during korean war? Also why mostly american planes?
Well more like only american planes...
this thread is getting attacked so much, if i make a thread i'm making sure my research is all correct

The USAF wanted a Shuttle of their own inorder to man their own battlestations should the Cold war went tits up.

Soviet Russia counters with a PAK FA.
I love how, when the A10 attacks, you see the bullet impact before you hear the angry hiss from the sky.

Wow that was pretty awesome. Sick Germans :v:
I read in a magazine article about the F-22 that although in theory it should be excellent at everything it does pilots flying it have found it to be horrible. Also on the first model the designers forgot to put in a radio so the pilots had to bring CB radios with them to communicate.
Looks cool though.
I had an A-10 model plane before.

Well, fuck me, cause I'm not a smart arse. Also, this thread isn't finished yet. Any information help is appreciated.
Also, not to be a grammar nazi, but fix some of your words.

But where's the glorious Eurofighter, where's everyones pet harrier and where's the accident prone Su-27 Flanker?
Thread needs more B-52.
And AC-130.
But I'm not doing it.

Yeah, the hurricane had better bang for your buck.
No Albatros DVa yet?

For all it's flaws, you'll never find a better looking Biplane.
That looks like a damn carrot with wings, this is how a biplane should look like.

You just briefly mentioned the Stuka, Zero, Hellcat, Mig 15, then jumped to modern day. Quite a few gaps in your thread to be honest.
Needs more:
B-52
SR-71
U-2
F-14
F-16
F-18
F-117
F-35
AC-130 (If you must)
AH-64
MiG-21
MiG-25
Su-27
Su-47
And that's just a few.

F/A-18
Finland uses F/A-18C and F/A-18D tho in Finland they are just called F-18C and F-18D.
Super hornets are F/A-18E and F/A-18F
Wow fuck me. The amount of request. Wait goddammit! One by one!
You shouldn't have made a thread like this if you weren't ready. the p38 Lightning is my favorite WW2 plane. My current favorite is the F-35 or F-4 Phantom.
