Q: What's a Steam Wallet?
A: Steam now has a feature called the Steam Wallet. It allows you to put money into it, which can then be spent either on in-game items, such as the ones offered in TF2’s Mann Co. Store, or on full products like games in the Steam store.
Oh God. No.
No no no no.
Not the in-game buy shit for real money scheme.
What happened Valve?
It's actually a good move. If people really want a hat, they'll buy it, and Valve sits back and makes money.

As long they don't get dumb buffs but just get to buy hats or different skins of weapons I'm fine with it.
So now you have to pay for hats? No thank you Valve.
Read the FAQ, it's more or less for people that have a lot of money and are impatient. You can still get all items from drops.
[editline]08:52PM[/editline]
And you can still craft them.
wow now i can sell my hats for real money
ITT: People don't read the fucking FAQ.
They said they wouldn't start doing stimulus package type asshattery, so I'm OK with this, not that I'll ever use it.
Valve now doing transactions in-game in TF2 from the Steam Wallet?
Where's Valve and what have you done with them.

Where's yours eyes and what have you done with them.
open_charinfo_armory if you want to see the items
A good move by Valve, they'll make more money by impatient customers.
Valve introduces paid DLC, and hell begins to freeze over
Valve introduces paid DLC, and hell begins to freeze over
Since you aren't paying for anything that you download, unless you just bought the game I'm going to say that you are technically incorrect.
You are paying to unlock hats nothing more, nothing less. You don't have to pay for the hats. However, if you are someone who REALLY NEEDS their hats and FAST because you have uncontrollable impulses or something then it's good for you.

What happened is people lost their analytical skills and automatically assumed that you can no longer get them without paying. Or perhaps an irrational assumption that Valve only cares about money now.
I want to strangle myself after reading the the facebook comments.
Another use is for parents to give their kids money in their Steam Wallet...that way kid can just buy what he wants when he wants.
Example would be the parent puts $20 a month in their kids Steam Wallet and they can either save it or spend it when they want.

The funny part is that if you replace Valve in that sentence with the name of any other developer/publisher, everyone here would go apeshit.

Never though they would go on a scheme where you could only buy them.
Valve would never do something like that.
I just hate to see purchasable in game content in a valve game regardless of if you can avoid it or not. Fuck that. It may just be the beginning if they're successful.
Of course this isnt really a big deal right now.
But what will this mean for games in the future?
The funny part is that if you replace Valve in that sentence with the name of any other developer/publisher, everyone here would go apeshit.
But you won't find any other developer/publisher that does so much for the community for free either.
Well, as long as it's optional. If they start doing paid DLC though, shit is gonna go down.
I could never get into the whole hats thing. Its' insignificance is similar to the insignificance of your Farmville farm.
But if it pays the bills for Valve, then I'm all for it.
does anyone remember vanilla tf2
vanilla tf2 owned
this doesn't make it worse or anything but tf2 has become so much more...mottled and messy in the past 2 years. There's so much shit, so many maps, everything, lol
this is just adding yet another thing onto it
its cool w/e but sometimes I remember how nice and simple TF2 was at the start
Holy shit! The prices.
If you want the whole polycount pack it costs you more than a new fresh game.

The new hats give you buffs, look for yourself.

^--- This man is right. Sniper full pack makes you Immune to Headshots...Which basiclly means fuck you snipers who wanna kill this sniper.
this is why i dont like tf2 anymore. i liked it before they started adding new shit

You can't headshot others either though. So what goes around comes around.
I don't like that you can "cheat" if you have the money to do so.
