Too bad we all know how its going to end. Garrosh is going to escape, and set up the plot for Warlords of Draenor.
Next time we kill him, the fucker better stay dead. Keeping him alive at the end of mists made NO sense.

The full novel has been leaked to mmochampion like weeks ago

The point was to show that the Pandaren, the one group unequivocally most affected by Garrosh's brutality, were still willing to hold on to justice and demand a trial. While representatives of the Horde and Alliance were about to get into a screaming match over who gets to summarily execute Garrosh, no less. It reinforces the emotional harmony the Pandaren had to maintain as a society for thousands of years in a land where emotional outbursts could literally spawn demon monsters and contrasts this with the constantly belligerent attitudes of the Alliance and Horde who, even in victory, can't stop bickering to look 5 minutes into the future.

It also denies Garrosh the one thing he wants the most: A glorious, blood-filled death. Instead of going out like a warrior he gets a mundane trial.

Supposedly he's going to redeem himself somehow. Most likely going out in a blaze of glory just like daddy.

Varian deciding to leave the Horde alone after everything that happened was a major buzzkill too. Varian could've at least attempted something to renew the Alliance and Horde's conflict. Like, seriously. The biggest opportunity to make The Horde pay for 5 expansions worth of shit and he pussies out.
All the faction leaders were there, they could've had their trial right in that very room and saved a lot of time. Fucking plotholes, man.

Three major reasons
1) Varian isn't a dumbass who is going to kickstart a new war against the Horde in the middle of Orgrimmar
2) The only Horde left was the Horde who actively fought against the Iron Horde. The battle was basically over and Varian knew the only reason they succeeded was because of them.
3) Varian isn't interested in war. This point is explained through some of the Mists story, especially a certain scenario, but Varian would absolutely not want to renew any kind of conflict between either side.

ya im kinda fed up with the alliance's writing lately, even jaina proudmore is calling for blood and is all pissed off, when just one expansion back she was the voice of justice and she even had a dungeon where her sadness for the bloodshed is a boss fight...
even the elves are calling for blood and they are supposed to be the 10,000 year old super-patient people, the only ones not calling for blood are the dwarves and the gnomes only because they didn't really have much to do in this expansion

Killing him would have prevented future disasters and I thought the pandaren would understand such a concept.
Oh well, I'm dying to know what blizzard has in store for garrosh for the next expansion. A raid encounter between both father and son at the same time would be interesting as fuck.
I have read this, and it's really good. would only recommend it if you're actually interested in the lore (like the other books), though.
sure you know how it'll end, but what about the events leading up to it? the book isn't focused on the verdict, it's GETTING to the verdict

Would you recommend the book to someone who stopped paying attention to the WoW lore at the end of Cataclysm? I played the Pandaria expansion on release but can't remember it for the life of me.
As someone who hasn't played WoW or read the books. I thought this was related to the tv series by Dick Wolf.

The only way he can redeem himself is with past Grom. I wonder if he's going to be part of the iron horde.

Grom is confirmed the warchief of the iron horde. My guess is Gul'Dan will summon some demons to try and take over the iron horde, then Garry and/or Grom will be all like "Aint no demons gon corrupt no orcs" and sacrifice themselves to stop the big bad.

definitely. all you need to know is that garrosh is in pandaria for a trial, which you probably already know anyway. but again i can imagine someone that isn't into the lore may find it a a bit "meh"
garrosh did nothing wrong
garrosh did nothing wrong
if 97% of garroshes want to destroy the alliance, then by god they should be allowed to destroy the alliance!

Remember when Varian said this?
"If your Horde fails to uphold honor as Garrosh did, we will end you."
My guessings are that the Iron Horde is going to assassinate someone who is very important to the Alliance, or someone that is very close to Varian, and blame Vol'jins Horde for it. Blackrock Mountain is being taken over by the Iron Horde, and Blackrock Mountain is pretty close to Stormwind, so it would make sense.
