Where can I get the cheapest version of windows 7?

I'm looking for windows 7 and I need to find a legitimate, but not overpriced copy of windows 7?
Anyone know where I may do so?
Thanks
Home premium OEM
newegg.com if you're in the US/Canada
Cheapest version would be a student version or if you work for a company that needs bulk windows.

Yeah, something like that.
"This software is intended for pre-installation on a new personal computer for resale."
So I can't use it then? God damn why do they have to make it so complicated I just want a simple version of windows 7

I just don't understand it, there's several versions, the retail of the home version is 180 bucks, and the one I just posted it 104, are you sure it'll work?

Hold the phone, I think I see it now, the OEM can only be installed on one computer and never again, and the retail can be reinstalled?
And you don't get ms support so if you're a dumbass they won't come and fix it.

Your serial number is tied to your PC either way, it's just that the OEM one is fussier so if you change components you may need to phone MS to reactivate.

I'm using the exact version you posted. I am posting this, so its fine...
Protip, if you change motherboards, just call Microsoft and tell them that your motherboard died and you got a new one under warranty, but for some reason the version of windows that came 'preinstalled' on your computer won't work anymore.
[editline]wtf[/editline]
Why did I get rated artistic?

What if you added like another hard drive or something? Would nothing change?

Awesome. I'm buying it. :buddy: Glad I don't have to pay an extra 80+ bucks for it.

Nah, it's not that picky. I have an OEM version of Professional, runs just like any normal version of Windows 7.
snip-
just read the windows 7 FAQ thread.
Yeah, XP mode is only available in Professional and Ultimate. The OEM version of professional is only 30 dollars more, ALOT more cheaper compared to the UPGRADE version of professional. I honestly don't use XP mode much, but it's nice to have for those select few programs that don't work with Windows 7.

Chances are you might not even use it at all besides for fucking around.
Probably should point out that XP mode is too slow for any sort of gaming, it's more aimed at general apps that don't support Vista/7.
u could get the msdn version

OEM can only be used on one computer and you get no support from MS (which i doubt you'll need anyway)
Basically, you can re-install it as many times as you want, if your hard drive fails or something similar you can phone them up and explain. They should let you switch. Retail is basically for the gullible or computer un-savvy.

Ehhh, I got an unused copy of Win7 Ultimate on Craigslist, but Newegg is still pretty cheap. Look around Ebay, Craigslist, etc. If not, try Newegg and TigerDirect.
Protip: Go get a illegal version for 0 cents...
