PC wont power on after I opened the case | Also GPU question

[del]I opened my computer to check on my GPU too see if it has a fan since it my card is 86 at idle, and 100 when gaming giving me unbearable FPS as witnessed in my last thread. I than discovered I don't have one after opening my computer. When I tried powering it on, nothing would happen. Is there a loose cable in the PSU and how would I open the PSU box?
Here's how it looks like:
The metal/grey box in the corner, would the loose cable be inside that?
[/del]
Above has been solved.
Also, I've been trying to find ways to cool down my GPU since it has no fan, so I opened my old PC that has a GPU Fan (two pin) and disconnected it. I couldn't find a place to plug it in, I found a 3 pin slot (Can a two pin go inside of a 3 pin?) and it was a bit bigger than my GPU.
I also noticed that I was missing a fan here, in my case:

And here's the view from the outside:

Would putting a fan in the above picture substitute for a GPU fan?
Thanks
Putting a fan in the above picture would help cooling the graphics a bit.. What about a side fan as well?
Don't open the PSU, there's no serviceable parts inside.
May sound silly, but did you flip the power switch on the PSU back on before you tried powering up again?
If so, get more (and better) pictures of the insides, shouldn't be that hard to tell if anything is unplugged as long as the photos are clear enough.

All right I'll get better, and what switch? I always hear about it, maybe I accidently flipped it while disecting my computer? Where would would it be exactly.

I'll hook it up once I can get my PC to turn on.

That power switch. The black one, not the red. Don't fiddle with the red.

It's on the backside of your PC, where your big power cable enters it. (with the 3 holes in it, for the 3 pins).
Also, on the inside is a big broad cable leading to your motherboard if i'm correct. Whenever I open up my case, it gets loose, and when it does I can't power up my PC. Push against it firmly (not too hard) to make sure that isn't the case either.

I don't see how you'd accidentally hit the switch, but it'll be near where the cable plugs into the back. It'll look like a power switch, not a little red thing inset into the PSU. The latter one is the voltage switch and you don't want to change it.
When you first tried turning your PC on after reassembling it, did you hear any pops or anything? Or absolute silence?
Beaten twice

Oh, I don't have that.

There was nothing.

I'm looking for that right now.
I notice that you stated:

This may be causing some sort of problem (not sure what), try removing it and trying to boot your PC.
Also I recommend that you get a nice big 'ole can of compressed air and blow away all the dust in your fans. My old GPU was constantly idling at 65+ degrees, however after dusting it the temperature dropped to a much cooler 35-40.

Follow the little wires from the front of your PC where the switch is down to the motherboard. Anything come out there?
They're just tiny plugs that fit onto two pins each so it'd be easy to miss if the power button simply came unattached.
And unhook that random fan, you can't just attach any fan to any GPU like that.

It didn't work, also there isn't any dust build up at all, especially since my PC is reletively new.

Holy fuck it worked!

Also what random GPU fan are you talking about?
Here's some better pics

OK, now about my GPU. I disconnected a fan from my old PC which fits here.

Since my PC is missing a fan there would it be OK if I just used the one my old PC had to cool down my GPU?

Yeah, more airflow in the case does wonders. The fan will have arrows on it telling you which way the air blows, set it up so it blows out (I assume that photo was at the back of the case) and you should see an improvement in temperatures.
And I think the solution was Senney's :v:

Btw for future reference, this is my GPU. I don't think it was even meant to have a fan.

Both, following from the front helped :)
All right, I'm seeting up my extra fan onto my vacant spot in my PC case (Back), I hope that jet engine looking fan in the middle of my motherboard doesn't obstruct the air flow to much.
I'll be on my PC next time I reply
Why anyone would think a passively cooled 8400GS is a good idea I do not know.
Nice nail hiding you got there
Any passively cooled GPU is generally a bad idea.

Or maybe he uses his nails to grab the rather thin components on those sides so we can have a full view of his card.
