• $1200 guts-only build, thoughts?
    5 replies, posted
Alright, I'm looking at about a $1200 limit. That includes a HDD not listed below which will be purchased when prices come back down. This is my second gaming machine, so I'll be bringing over monitor, keyboard, mouse, OS, headphones, and case. I'm just looking for the guts on this one. I intend to run this thing between 4.5Ghz and 5Ghz 24/7, so I'm hoping that the NH-D14 and case cooling from the PC-K62 will do me just fine. I've been out of the PC building scene for a year or so now, so any comments or thoughts on the parts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Maybe the cooler's a bit overboard on price, i have the 2500k overclocked to 4.3ghz and it's very cool with the Asus Hyper 212
The asus hyper 212? that's a new one
Maybe the cooler's a bit overboard on price, i have the 2500k overclocked to 4.3ghz and it's very cool with the CoolerMaster Hyper 212
Coolermaster makes the Hyper 212+ afaik. Might want to get a bit more powerful PSU so you can XFire in the future. I am not sure if your current one is fine.
Well I'm thinking I'm going to try and run 5Ghz constant, so I need something that will (hopefully) keep me 20-30C away from the CPU TjMAX during extended loads. I've been looking at the performance on the Hyper 212+, and it doesn't look good enough for my use case. Also, if you think a more powerful PSU is in line, what kind of wattage should I be aiming for?
