Every few hours or so I keep getting a pop-up in firefox telling me to upgrade to Windows Live Messenger 2011. Namely, this page: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-messenger?os=other It minimizes anything I'm doing, which is annoying as fuck. I've already upgraded, too (I use MSN to keep in touch with people so don't say "Uninstall it"). What is causing this, for lack of a better word, harassment by microsoft to upgrade to their newest software. If it's intentional, and I certainly hope not, then it's extremely shady and very unethical. Shame on you, MS.
Some people are having the same problem. I'm not since I haven't upgraded (One because I'm lazy and Two is for this very reason) but if I were you, I'd just wait it out or downgrade till an update gets released to fix it.
WLM2011 has so many bugs. That fucking menu bar is stuck on the window for me. Honestly I think it's better to just use another client. No smartscreen, no randomly opening links, no blocking of site links for no reason.
i had WLM2011 for 15 minutes and got pissed of with it. Uninstalled WLM2011 and installed the version i used to use before stupid W7 update force installed WLM2011, Windows Live Messenger 2009 (14.0.8117) + A-Patch.
I wondered why chrome kept opening with that page. When you leave a PC on overnight you could wake up to a load of tabs open with the same damn page. Have since uninstalled and installed Pidgin.

And you don't have to install GTK+ or any other framework just for a simple program.
