Last month, Microsoft launched the Mac version of Office 2016 leaving Windows users waiting for their turn. Now it seems the productivity suite is almost ready to ship as the company is preparing to launch it in a month's time. According to a leaked memo acquired by WinFuture.de, the company has asked its employees to start using the public preview of Office 2016 and keep track of readiness, training and marketing material related to the product prior to the release on the 22nd of September.
Eh, I'll stick to Libreoffice which covers everything I could possibly need and doesen't cost an arm and a leg. I'm still incredibly sad OpenOffice died. That was my go-to program. I mostly just use Google Docs now, which lacks so many features.

LibreOffice is essentially OpenOffice under a new name and more advanced.

I tried it a long time ago when OpenOffice started falling behind, but the UI was shit in the early early versions - or maybe I was thinking of a different office suite, I don't know. Definitely improved now and I'm already loving it.

Co-authouring, while only working on business onedrive/sharepoint sounds handy since a lot of use at the university would benefit from it a lot. Uses a git like system, where it updates paragraphs on save, but locks out other users if they're editing that paragraph.
LibreOffice served me just fine for my essays. However, I find some advanced spreadsheets aren't correct on LibreOffice. Google Docs gave me the same issues.
I've been using Word 2016 for the last week. It installs super fast and works as well as the previous versions. You can already download a trial for Windows. It seems Microsoft's 365 subscription model gives this version with no extra cost, which makes sense seeing how little has changed and I definitely prefer that method of payment.
I've been using Office 365 for about a year now and really can't fault the convenience of 2TB OneDrive storage, 5 concurrent Office 2013 installs (and users) and a bunch of other stuff they throw in.
Interesting, might have to give this a go at work, though I already have 2013. Don't have any office suite on my home desktop though.

To keep users on the latest version of office?
I have 365 because of my school and it is the shit
I have 365 because of my school and it is the shit
We use office 2013 but we dont get it for free unfortunately.
We use office 2013 but we dont get it for free unfortunately.
Anyone with a .edu email should be able to get 365 free now iirc.
We use office 2013 but we dont get it for free unfortunately.
I bought it on my personal account before it was given to students for free ~$2 a month for it with unlimited onedrive is mint though, on my personal account too
