Does anyone here listen to dubstep? I am obsessed with it - and create mixes. Dubstep is an electronic genre closely related to drum n' bass. If features slow hip-hop style beats without lyrics and instead with a gritty/wobbly bass. I got into it after listening to tonnes of drum n' bass and never stopped since. Here is a mix I made and uploaded to youtube: Pt1 Pt2 Happy Listening :)
Dupstep is nice. I wonder, is there any dubstep with lyrics? Maybe it isn't dubstep anymore then.
Dupstep is nice. I wonder, is there any dubstep with lyrics? Maybe it isn't dubstep anymore then.
there is a quite a few dubstep track's with vocals in them, though most tracks tend to be just instrumentals because it's all about the bass hohoho
Erm some grime songs use dubstep
Show me how to make some?
The hardest part is making the "wub" sounds, and there are many tutorials on youtube (and other places) on how to make it with programs like Ableton (that's the main tutorial I remember seeing).
Could you list the songs that are in your mix?
Tried looking in the video description? But meh- Hide and Seek (Enigma Remix) Doctor P - Rasputin's Gold Datsik - Gizmo Vaski - Zombie Apocalypse Bionic Commando (Rusko Remix) Emalkay - When I Look At You Edit, here are my top fav tracks (That are not in the mix) Excision & Datisik - Ruffneck Remix (Filthier than giving a handjob to a chainsaw while giving a blowjob to a leafblower..) KOAN Sound - Jump Suit Adventures Dayn & Daladubz - FOG (More dubcore but still sick) Rusko - Hammertime (pretty popular tune overall) Kromestar - Bodycount (old skool chilled dub =D) listen to all - those tracks pretty much sum up dubstep for me :)

Also all those youtube tutorials are going to give you pretty shit wobbles. Here's a dubstep tune I started working on and haven't finished yet because I'm busy with work, pretend it's my credentials: http://www.creattivox.com/greem.mp3

http://www.creattivox.com/teeth.mp3 That's the newest track I've been working on. Still not 100% satisfied with it yet.
Nice one - awesome bass, but the constant drum loops dont fit in with the rest of the song (it's a good idea to throw in some variation instead of having the same pattern over the whole course of the song) [editline]07:45PM[/editline]
HOYL FUCK. linkie
This is really leading more towards hip-hop (unless that's what you were trying to accomplish) - the use of claps instead of snares is generally avoided in the world of dubstep - here we like punchy snares. - the bass has too wide of a sound spectrum (i.e. it includes the highs and the middles) - most dubstep tunes have a bass sound set to one area in the spectrum (easily corrected by using a parametric EQ though) - the bass is punchy (not common in dubstep) - the bass is interrupted by other random shit going on in the background (well at least the random shit wobbles >=D) Improvements to make: - replace the clap with a layered (2-3 samples) snare - remove at least half of those kicks - boost the kick at bass frequencies - boost the snare midrange - get rid of that bass, replace with a nice rough saw/sin wave mix (or just find some samples) - remove all the shit going on in the foreground. - optional: slow it down a wee bit Otherwise it would make a sweet video game track, but that's about it.

I'll make a revised version right now.
