Alright, so my car died tonight, it was an extremely old car, dodge intrepid I don't know what year it is but it has like 207,000 miles on it or close around that.
I was wondering, does anyone know any pretty cheap cars that our decent (doesn't have to be like epically amazing hence cheap) but still runs pretty good and won't die on me after a few weeks? I really need a new car now...
Get a fucking better car then.

oh and by the way... I am not the richest person in the world...
Try craigslist and go to a used car lot. Sometimes you can get a pretty good car for cheap.

cheapest possible would like some where around maybe like.. $500?
Get a honda accord, around the 90's. These days they are very reliable. and depending on your area it can be p rare.

From what I understand, it's a good time to sell used cars, not necessarily to buy them. The Cash for Clunkers program took a good deal of used cars out of the market.
+1 for Craigslist though

I drove with friends from Nova Scotia to Vancouver (~7000+ km) in a 1996 Honda Accord over two weeks and we had no car troubles. Nice looking car for the age, too.

That sucks but maybe you can get a decent older grand pre. I sold mine for $600 and it was a special edition

You're not going to get a good car for $500 most likely, just a junk piece of shit.
1. Go to a dealership that does Cash for Clunkers.
2. Talk to someone looking to turn in their car.
3. Offer one dollar more than the dealership (probably $1501 or something)
4. Buy car there.
???????
6. Profit.

Cash for Clunkers has been over for a while. And the minimum the government gave for a car was $3500. If you bought a car with enough gas mileage you got $4500.

Hmm.. I stand corrected. Thank you for pointing out the error of my ways.
Edit: Post 100. Yay?
Don't waste your money on a shit car, get a car worth at LEAST 3-4K
Buy a Bicycle.
Also Craigslist works.
Get a Mitsubishi Eclipse or a Toyota Celica.
Fix it/get it fixed.

Why?
Both of those aren't that cheap really
Suck it up and take public transit for the next 6 months. Save your money too.
Then you'll have enough for a semi-decent car.
You could get an ok golf mk2 out of 500$ as far as I remember, but that's in denmark...
Public Transport

Yes you can, I got one for £300. It's 10 years old, done 66,000 miles and passed every MOT. If you get one from the 90s then you can get one for cheap, just because people don't want them really.
What's wrong with your car?
get a volkswagen.
Shits reliable
R.I.P. your car
Intrepids are shit, it was inevitable. There are known issues with their engines. Your local craigslist is your best bet.
What was the engine size. Dodge intrepids with 2.7 liter engines have been known to die because of an oil sludge issue. If that is the case, the car is fucked. Otherwise you might just need a new starter or battery if the car is not starting. It's a shame 207,000 miles is actually not too much, at least for a chrysler. I got a jeep cherokee with 101,000 on it and the 4.0L has been known to go over 300k.
