I spilled a little bit of water on my laptop over the key board, it turned off anfes minutes after and I got the water off immediately, andnwhen it turned off I soaked whatever was left and unplugged it to sit at least overnight. Should I be good or am i fucked?
I'm not sure if the hardware on an Apple laptops is directly accessible by lifting up the keyboard like on a PC, but chances are it isn't, seeing as it's the Apple way or no way. If it turned off, that's bad, but leave it overnight and see.
It should be okay if you don't turn it on, leave it for a few days so the water evaporates 100%.
If you turn it on when there is still water on the components you stand a high chance of shorting it, which ain't good!
Put it in an airing cupboard for a few days.
Leave it to dry for at least 5 days to be safe. Turning it on while it's still even remotely damp means you could short it out.
As the others said, leave it for 3 to 5 days, then try turning it on. I lost my laptop by leaving it to dry for only 1 day.
I spilt coke all over mine last week and it is still fine. Weird yours actually full on turned off.
I've spilt small amounts on it in the past probably twice and each time I got it wiped off immediately like today and it was always fine.
Also, seriously, 3-5 days? Shits gonna suck, good thing i just nabbed crackdown from the movie place that's closing, wish they had red dead though. Maybe this means I need to be more social :v:
I just turned it on by mistake, reached over to get something next to the computer and hit the button. I figured if anything would happen it'd happen right then so I let it run to see if it'd at least get to the boot logo and it did fine, so I think I'm good, gonna let it sit until tonight at the very least though before using it.
Ok, so I just turned it on, started to boot to os x fine, turned it off, and booted into windows, I got a blinking _ for a few minutes and then a windows shut down bad prompt, but I heard a feint crackling coming from the keys so I immediately turned it off again and unplugged it. I noticed the same crackling when I pushed the keys but it stopped after a few times.
Should I wait until tomorrow night?

The longer, the better.
Get a heat gun of some sort, and hit the laptop. My friend dropped his iPod in a hot tub and I restored it to full health with a Q tip and a lamp that gets very hot and just heated up the iPod for 2 minutes, let it cool and plugged it in.
I completely submerged my mouse in water once, and it worked after being placed in the airing cupboard for a week.
As long as it is water and not a fruit juice or soft drink, it should be fine, but soft drinks and fruit juice tend to be sticky, so that might not be quite so OK.
When my phone ended up doing 60c for 70 minutes, I just layed it in the sun for a week or so, and the water would evaporate.
I'd say do the same. Remember to remove the battery.
Just leave it to dry naturally and you will be fine.
Well, I got it working, but S f and x don't work. I'm jut gonna get a cheap keyboard intead o helling out $100+ or a replacement and howevermuch it i to put it in o i dont looe my warranty

Going by the crackling (probably dried something) and the fact you no longer have several keys I suspect you didn't spill water. $10 says whatever you did spill on it ate away at the carbon traces for those keys and the whole keyboard will have to be replaced.
I spilled a DROP of water between the E and R key and the E stopped working.
Laptop + Water - Fucked = All good.
You might be able to buy a replacement keyboard off ebay, though Macbooks I hear aren't the easiest things to get apart.

It wa deinately water, I don't keep anything on my desk jut incae i pill, and I don't really drink anything but water.
I'm jut gonna get a ub one though, maybe a rollout one i can put over it.
The liquid contact indicator would have turned pink in any spots that have come into contact, so any warranty you've got (either one year limited or protection plan) is completely void.
As WaLLy3K said, your warranty is most likely void, as spilling stuff on it probably isn't covered.
Why did no one mention a box and a lot of rice? Rice sucks moisture from anything. Works for mobiles and ipods so it should have worked for your laptop

Isn't covered full stop, no exceptions. Not even Customer Relations can make an exception for that kinda stuff.
Pop out the Caps Lock key, G and Return and check - they're usually the standard places for the indicators. They can easily be put back together on the newer keyboards.

How come everyone's stuff seems to work a week after they get it wet. I dropped my phone in a flooded street, left it for a month, it still doesn't work (about 7 months later).

Yeah but dropping the phone is going to cause diffrent damage than having water poured onto it...

it was probably shorted before you picked it up out of the water, meaning that it wouldn't ever turn back on, no matter how dry it is or how long you wait.
