I'm sure some of you have heard this band. Brand New is one of my favorite bands and i really like the album Deja Entendu, specifically the song Guernica. They are coming out with a new album called Daisy. I have heard it's very different from their other albums but i have confidence that it will be good just like all the other Brand New songs out there. Anybody heard anything else on the new album? song links or stuff like that?

Here are the lyrics to Guernica.
Ever since I was young your word is the word that always won.
Worry and wake the ones you love.
A phone call I'd rather not receive.
Please use my body while I sleep.
My lungs are fresh and yours to keep,
Kept clean and they will let you breathe.
Is this the way a toy feels when its batteries run dry?
I am the watch you always wear but you forget to wind.
Nobody plans to be half a world away at times like these,
so I sat alone and waited out the night.
The best part of what has happened was the part I must have missed.
So I'm asking you to shine it on and stick around.
I'm not writing my goodbyes.
I submit no excuse.
If this is what I have to do I owe you every day I wake.
If I could I would shrink myself and sink through your skin to your blood cells
and remove whatever makes you hurt but I am too weak to be your cure.
I'm not letting you check out.
You will beat this starting now and you will always be around.
I'm there to monitor your breathing
I will watch you while you're sleeping.
I will keep you safe and sound.
Does anybody remember back when you were very young.
Did you ever think that you would be this blessed?
Nobody plans to be half a world away at times like these,
so I sat alone and waited out the night.
The best part of what has happened was the part I must have missed.
So I'm asking you to shine it on and stick around.
I'm not writing my goodbyes.

Just please guys, please don't label this as emo music. Brand New is NOT emo.
Emo is whatever emo's listen to, and no one labelled it emo.
Actually it's a real genre

Daisy is an amazing album. I bought it randomly because i had heard alot about it in a magazine and now i am in love. Seriously, i think it's that good!
Actually it's a real genre

Yes, it is a real genre in no way associated with cutting or eyeliner or blue banged hair. In fact, one good thing about people using emo in the way I describe is that you can instantly figure out if you're talking to a bro-dude or not. Bro-dudes have no fucking clue about emo (or any music that isn't Disturbed or Metallica's Reload album).

Anyway, now that we have it clear, carry on with the topic.
Brand New is alternate rock, not emo
They have some elements of emo.
like what? apparently i know nothing of music genres. what would be some characteristics of emo?
Like the loud-soft dynamics and Jesse's vocals sometimes.
I just call it rock
like what? apparently i know nothing of music genres. what would be some characteristics of emo?
Traditionally, emo is hardcore music without all the straightedge lyrics (emo comes from the term emocore). From bands like Fugazi and Rites of Spring, the genre evolved into a mix of posthardcore and math rock
Here is modern emo:

Anyway, as you can see the styles between City of Caterpillar and Brand New are completely different. Brodudes haven't a clue (which is advantageous if you want to stay away from brodude. A good test is to say "what do you think of Dashboard Confessional?", and if they say "That emo crap?" you can just walk away, even if you don't like Dashboard Confessional. Because, really, who wants to hang out with a brodude? They'll just drink your beer, smoke your weed, wear their hat crooked, and barf on your floor. And when you ask them, "Why'd you do that?" They'll say "Dude, bro, I'm sorry." And this solves nothing.)
Wow, longest parenthetical ever.
I thought Emo came from emotion.
Emo is short for emotive hardcore. So yeah, kinda.

Ahh, stopped trolling. No matter
aww, is the little emo kid gonna cry?

I have listened to some good emo, it exists.
Akin to finding a needle in a haystack though.
Did the last 4 posters really not read the thread? There are 3 posts, THREE, that tell exactly what emo is.
And, according to my definition, I predict that Deez_Nutz is a brodude.
