Namebench is a tool that does diagnostics to find the best DNS Servers for you, which can result in huge improvements in speed.

Available for Mac, Windows, and Linux, no excuse not to try it :)
Note: This was NOT made by me, I'm simply posting it here so people can use it.
Schweet. Grabbing.
I would do this but I tried out open dns and couldn't find the dns server option on my linksys router.

You could just set it locally, through your internet adapter settings.

Oh sweet. Figured out how to do it. And figured out why my port forwarding didn't work!
sweet, this made my internet +++fast
edit: like 27% faster
Green Greens, now 35% faster!
Nice tool, seems a little more speedy than my default one. Thanks for the post.
Great little tool, speeds are a bit better
Apparently this will make my internets 277% better. So thanks, I guess.
Checking availability of 3039 servers... [0/40]
yeah that step takes a looooong time
3% Faster
:geno: Oh well... 3% is more than 0%. Thanks OP
Gee, what an informative and helpful thread this is.
In this test, Your current primary DNS server is
72% Faster
than UltraDNS
uh
Yeah these percentages are WAY off, but it's useful nonetheless.
Thanks.
This is pretty tight.
The problem is, I'm on a laptop and I don't have a static ISP. I have my appartment's ISP, father's home, my mother's home, and my school.
Gotta love google being honest and not showing GoogleDNS as #1 for that test
Is this supposed to take forever to run?
Well, maybe there is 50% faster DNS around, but the DNS I am using is one that dad runs, so I think I will stay on it :v:
UltraDNS, 14% faster.
Seems a little bit faster.
Actually, the DNS I am using right now is in the same room I am in, so the minimal response time is 0.7 milliseconds, but the average is poor, I guess it's because not only DNS runs on it.
Noticeable speed, but I'll take whatever I can get.
So... Once it's done, what do you do? Do I plug the addresses it gave me somewhere, ie Static IP settings?
