I've got my mind set on an i7 4790k as an upgrade from my current FX 6100. Now, my issue is that I don't know which motherboard I should go for. Looking for something solid for under $150 (Canadian), preferably something from this retailer, so I can go in and buy it instead of dealing with an online purchase and shipping.
A few side questions, is the $360 price tag on the 4790k reasonable, or is Intel over-charging consumers? And is it possible to order from the manufacturer, possibly skipping retail price? If I can order straight from intel, getting it much cheaper, I won't mind doing an online purchase.

It's only 10-15 more than it's previous model (i7-4770k) so yes, it's very reasonable.
If you're getting a 4790k, make sure to get a motherboard that supports overclocking - from what I hear, a certain amount of Z87 chipsets and all Z97 chipsets.

Otherwise, the cheapest name brand will usually do.

Also, the 4790k is only worth it if you really use the hyperthreading features of it, such as video editing and rendering. Otherwise the 4690k and a good cooler would do fine, because it's similar but just doesn't have hyperthreading.
I'll also be doing video editing, and 3D rendering. Those extra threads are going to help immensely.
Okay, it's 5$ above your 150$ limit, but it's the best motherboard i've seen so far at a reasonable price range that'll fit the 4790K

$5 above is perfectly fine. I'll be using some of my college funding to get it once September rolls around.
Any other suggestions? If not, I'll be getting that one.
