Fox News's Tucker Carlson is nearly doubling the ratings of his predecessor, Megyn Kelly, when compared to the same time period last year, according to Nielsen Media Research.
"Tucker Carlson Tonight" is up 95 percent in the 25- to 54-year-old demographic that advertisers covet most compared with the same period in 2016, when "The Kelly File" occupied the 9 p.m. ET time slot.
Carlson has averaged 775,000 viewers per night in the category, while Kelly averaged 398,000 during the same time period, Jan. 11–22.
Carlson took over the 9 p.m. slot on Jan. 9, shortly after Kelly announced she would be leaving for a daytime program on NBC.
Fox had reportedly offered Kelly $100 million over four years to stay with the network last fall. The former corporate attorney-turned-broadcast journalist said spending more time with her three young children in the afternoon and evening was ultimately more important. She reportedly took less money to go to NBC, where she won't be hosting a show every weekday night as she had at Fox.

I am actually really happy his program is doing well. He isn't the best debater I ever seen, but his interviews are some really interesting clashes.

It's no different from the paint by numbers partisan hackery Fox has played host to over the years. Carlson is Hannity for a younger generation who confirms all the biases they have against the left. The only difference is Carlson comes across as even more childish. Even during interviews where my default position is to be against whoever he is interviewing (BLM spokespeople, off the top of my head) I still end the video thinking Carlson is just kind of an ass.

IMO, the big difference between Carlson and Hannity is that the other side is continually presented. So while you have Carlson generally giving the talking points, at least you also have the other side's talking points from their own mouths.
It's odd, on one hand I like that he keeps bringing on people who disagree with him, but on the other hand I find him incredibly annoying.
saw him do a sort of point/counter-point with paul begala, he wasn't too bad though that was the only experience i've had with him

Hannity is an unapologetic right wing Propaganda machine.
This thread is a prime example of what's wrong with Fox news and and other similar "news" outlets.
The whole "It's all about the ratings and entertainment value" thing is not conducive to an actually informative environment. You see a fancy celeb tv personality throwing all these "epic zingers" at some handpicked "alternative view" for the ratings and it's honestly just down hill from there in your little hug-box as the viewer hand waives it all away as being "informed" by a "fair and balanced" network.
Tucker Carlson is the man. I don't even watch his stuff for the debates anymore, he's entertaining enough alone. His section is probably the only thing worth watching on the whole network purely for entertainment value.

Just look at him. It's like he's constantly bewildered.

Yes, I agree completely. My statements were about Carlson's show, not Hannity's.
Even more specifically, Hannity is now a Trump propaganda machine.
He was terrible with that Teen Vogue writer

He ends most of his interviews like this; a cowardly snipe before cutting the feed. Dudes a piece of shit, and if you like him you should consider leaving your bubble for once.

I don't think people who watch him are in an echo chamber, but saying that they are, makes you sound like you're the one in the bubble.

Most of the people that watch Fox News are in an echo chamber.
Same can go for MSNBC. These stations just exist to push an agenda using CNN's format.

When she still had cable, my grandmother always had either HGTV or Fox News on when I went over to visit. She insisted the latter was for "background noise", but her views were very strongly aligned with the rhetoric that Fox was spewing at the time for someone who "watched" Fox News for "background noise", and she didn't trust CNN, MSNBC, or any other news network that didn't align with Fox.
He's entertaining to watch
Tudd nobody fucking cares.

Looks like some people here like him.
He's a bigger piece of shit than Kelly and that's surprising
Why do Fox Anchors all have terrible haircuts straight out of the 80's?
Why do Fox Anchors all have terrible haircuts straight out of the 80's?
Considering how the entire GOP platform wants the US to basically go back to the Reagan years, it kind of fits.
Why do Fox Anchors all have terrible haircuts straight out of the 80's?
A nod to the Golden Years of Reagan, clearly.
He's a bigger piece of shit than Kelly and that's surprising
I actually have a lot of respect for Megyn Kelly.
Why do Fox Anchors all have terrible haircuts straight out of the 80's?
Because that's the last time they were relevant.
I actually have a lot of respect for Megyn Kelly.
Wasn't Megyn one of the Fox anchors that actually took a step back to examine what Trump was doing and go "...Whoa, what the fuck"?
I actually have a lot of respect for Megyn Kelly.
She has a few decent opinions surrounded by a tonne of reprehensible opinions

Yeah, even more so because he openly insulted her after she questioned his suitability.
I don't agree with a good portion of her opinions (I found The Kelly File to be a little obnoxious), but she's a pretty smart person and I'm glad she's out of the Fox News cesspool.
She has a few decent opinions surrounded by a tonne of reprehensible opinions
Considering her associates and former company I still find it respectable.

That's a really fucked up view of entertainment.
Case in point:

10:37 "You should stick to the thigh-high boots. You're better at that."
Tucker Carlson is repulsive pig, end of story.

Also after the tape leak IIRC.

no, pretty much everyone who watches fox nightime buys their garbage about being fair and balanced and only trusts them. you can demonstrate how right wing leaning they are but even then people will still watch it because they somehow trust it
