Call of Duty: Ghosts is displaying a 'troubling' decline in sales versus its predecessors, according to an industry analyst.
Activision has said previously that it expects Ghosts sales to be down on last year's Black Ops 2 due to the upset of the console transition and they were; November sales showed a drop of 19 per cent year-on-year. But Cowen analyst Doug Creutz has warned investors that the declines could be notably worse than the reported 19 per cent dip would suggest.
"Upon further reflection, we think the [Call of Duty] numbers are a bit more troubling than they first appeared," said Creutz, reports VentureBeat.
This was inevitable.
I wonder how many repeats of figures like this it will take before they figure out people are getting tired of it, or that the "release on old console, then release for new console" thing was a dumb move.
Better go blame piracy and put Starforce onto the next title.
And to think they were confident enough to make the singleplayer ending a cliffhanger to set up Ghosts 2.
things need to be changed aka sales to decline for the company to actually try to change something...
it's a good thing

Are we forgetting something here, Activision? I think they must know the real reason but are in denial/won't admit it.
I'm trying to email steam to ask for a refund, or at least another steam game or something. I've already put some time into the game, after trying to like it, but it's just not good. It's horrible. It doesn't even work, has microstuttering, normal stuttering, FOV issues, bad connection issues, resource hogging..
Maybe Activision will finally realize that unless they actually try to innovate sometimes instead of releasing the same damn game over and over again, the CoD series is inevitably dead.
Treyarch tried something new in Black Ops 2, and it's still the best selling game in the series.
And then IW think it's a great idea to fuck all innovation, release Modern Warfare 3.1: "Now with dogs and fish AI!" and act surprised when it sells like shit?
I played it for a few hours on somone's Xbox one yesterday - As far as online went it wasn't even remotely fun and I doubt I'll get it anytime soon. Snipers basically ruined the game for me.
True that, played a few rounds at my friends place one day
0.05 KDR, get like me

It's because Infinity Ward sucks and Treyarch are miles better, but they are under so much tight conditions with Activision that I'm sure if they weren't we'd see a kick ass CoD game from them

Steam never give out refunds. Only for preorders before they are released. I bought a game that I literally could not play and they wouldn't refund it.

If they put the series on hiatus for a good two to three years then maybe Treyarch and Infinity Ward could improve on their engine and go back to the drawing board to try and improve on their mistakes. You're right about Treyarch being better though, they seem to have got the series in their hands whenever it's their turn to make another COD game.
I doubt that'll happen since Activision.
Last COD game I bought was black ops 2 and I didn't regret it, it was amazing for PC, aside from the complete lack of players these days.
A friend bought me Ghosts (I was a bit hesitant, but free is free), the whole game is filled with huge stutter and fps drops. Thousands of players with more than decent specs have complained about it and all IW have said is "it's your hardware, not us".
This to me was the point I decided I'll never drop another penny on a new COD game, I may play black ops 2 if the playerbase picks up again.
I'm rather settled playing BF3 and BF4 which run flawlessly for me.

I wonder go that far with BF4, though I'd choose it any day over COD its been pretty buggy (though improving recently). Its my game of choice ATM though I don't know how they got away with the latest patch - it's like they didn't test it/care.
please die already you FUCK
The only reason it succeeded is because it appealed to a higher market. The reason CoD is shitty, is not because "It appeals to us entitled gamers", is because it appeals to people a quick jab at fun, which just happens to be gamers. It's cheap gaming with too much marketing on it. However, now that most of CoD by now would have grown up and looked at other games, they can see why.
One of the reasons I liked Mw1 and 2 was literally because it was funny to glitch the map and just be able to suddenly become unstoppable. That shouldn't even be in a game.
But.. real dog fur! How could THIS flop?

I haven't played since latest patch released, the only problem I had with BF4 was random freezing with looping audio whilst playing, but I fixed that by disabling origins cloud sync feature.
loved black ops 2 but ghosts just had no appeal to me
I wonder what kind of games will come after this Call of Duty era
Next statement from infinity ward.
"What's wrong guys? We put a dog into CoD and you aren't buying it? You don't HATE dogs do you? You aren't like michael vick ARE you?"
Seriously though infinity ward, go find another franchise to work on, I think treyarch has the CoD thing in the bag.

Seeing what Treyarch made for both Blops 1 and 2 in under 2 years, I would say without regret that Treyarch could make something incredible if they had a timeframe of 3 to 4 years to make something new
[editline]17th December 2013[/editline]
IW has gone through 4 additions of the IW engine and it looks the same every time
Treyarch has only used IW3 and it looks newer and better every release
You have to wonder what the fuck IW is doing

However, what was of the original IW staff has been completely dispersed because Activision in their immediate wisdom fired a huge portion of the dev team, so all that's left is hopes, dreams and underpaid coders holding it together.
IW as a entity of developers is hardly representative of what they used to be, sadly.
Aliens.
Fucking. Aliens.
This is not a surprise or news, literally anyone could have seen this coming.
Guitar hero 2: electric boogaloo
No shit. Nobody cared about before release except the die-hard fanboys. I thoroughly enjoyed MW1, Bloos 1/2, but knowing MW3 I had little hopes for this IW game.
They killed off it's hype by releasing games too close together. You have to give the market time to breathe and allow 12 year olds to reach their next birthday before they can buy the game.
so this is how it ends
I know a bunch of die hard CoD fanboys that didn't even want ghost (and a bunch that did, but still)
Call of Duties time seems to be almost over, I just hope the next over done thing they do doesn't get super over done and only last like 2 years.
