Continuum is a Canadian produced show about a police agent from 2077 who is sent back to the year 2012 in Vancouver together with criminals (convicted of comitting mass murder through terrorist attacks on a series of corporate buildings). The terrorists then form a group known as Liber8 with their one goal: stop the future from turning into a corporately-owned society, at ANY costs.
You follow the story in the eyes of Kiera Cameron, who is determined to get back to her family in 2077. Meanwhile, while she waits on a way to travel back to her time, she meets Alec Sadler, one of the most powerful men in the future, and dedicates herself to stopping Liber8 from changing the future so that her timeline as she knows it (i.e. her husband and son) isn't wiped out.
The show is fucking amazing, with so much shadowy behind-the-scene figures and powers-that-be being introduced, conspiracies unravelled, and questions left open to answering.
I absolutely urge you to watch it, it is truly an amazing show. One of the lead writers is/was a white hat hacker, and this shows when the show makes good technological references (proper setting up of networks, proper mentioning of what a DDoS is, etc.) The story-lines are super intriguing, and there is certainly a dual morality to the show: at the moment, in 2013, we're all afraid of becoming owned by corporations and our lives just be numbers, so you find yourself rooting for Liber8 [sp]and later Theseus[/sp], yet they kill people to achieve their goals... so on whose side should you really be?
Airing on Sundays 9 ET/PT on Showcase in Canada and Thursday Nights 10 PM On SyFy UK.

I'm up to the Season 2 finale now. Love the show so far.
[sp]So, I'm not sure if they ever explained Escher's involvement with the freelancers, or who Escher is to begin with. Did I miss something?[/sp]
Hopefully that'll be cleared up in the finale.

Also that's not been explained yet, no.
It took me a while to 'believe' the storyline and even then i still find certain parts of it stupid but it's a pretty good show and worth the effort.

The storyline isn't that far off a Fringe or Doctor Who plot... It's sci-fi, not fact.

Kinda worded it wrong, i like the plot and all that, it's the way certain things pan out really irked me.
[sp]A gripe that has kinda subsided now, was how Carlos is just about the most gullible character i have ever seen and how he as a detective didn't even have a single suspicion about Kiera all this time is still beyond me, and then there's the way we're told there's been people who've come back beforehand, not major but still it was stuff i could not believe for a while [/sp]
Holy fuck that finale.
[sp]What if Escher is actually Kiera's son? Escher is from the future supposedly, that would just make it ultra trippy[/sp]

[sp]Well he did say that time travel was 'the family business'...[/sp]
i watched all the episodes yesterday and today thanks for letting me know this existed i'm fucking hooked
I love this show, didn't think there were many others out there who did.
I think it's interesting how in first season it's all about "You can't change the future, everything you remember has happened" and then second season it goes "Fuck it, do whatever you want with your life"
To be honest, it hasn't been established how the timeline (or timelines!) works yet.

I'm thinking it's sorta like how Doctor Who works it out - big, famous events are stuck as happening, but little insignificant things like one more person surviving or dying doesn't change much.
New series starts in 3 days, looking forward to it
season 3 has aired!
amazing show!! i am rewatching it!
Fuck I forgot about it!
It was pretty good. I had to back and watch the last 2 episodes of season 2 to get some of it, because some how I missed them.
Oh man, this season is a billion times better than the previous two, and it's only been 3 episodes.
I've only seen the first episode of the season so far, it confused the shit out of me with the whole time travel thing. I'll have to re-watch the latter half of S2

Yeah, it took me a bit to remember what happened to realize what was going on.
At the start I thought the first episode of season 3 was going in a bad direction, but then they flipped everything around like they do when you think the show is going to take a bad turn. This show is so satisfying.
EDIT: I'd also like to say I love that this is Canadian produced so a whole bunch of whatever that we get in American television isn't there, the show does as it pleases and does so tastefully.
I thoroughly enjoy Season 3 more than any other Season so far, they've really gone into the whole time travel, its finally gotten really interesting.
I've noticed Kira has really toned down her wining this season.
I totally forgot this show existed until I saw this thread and immediately watched Season 3.
I was a bit reluctant at first but that turned into interest pretty quickly and by the end of the first episode of the new season I was hooked. Its pretty awesome to see how much the characters changed like Kiera who was somewhat scary because of how desensitized she became. Alec is also really interesting now when before he was just a pretty generic boy genius.

I'm thinking that, with the time travel doubles thingy, whenever a character "goes too far", they can replace them with themselves from another timeline.
Though I think Alec has changed more than Kiera.
Kiera was just [sp]betrayed[/sp] while Alec [sp]saw the love of his life killed before his eyes[/sp].
I dunno what Alec's problem is with [sp]Alec[/sp].
If I were to [sp]meet myself like that, we'd be thick as thieves[/sp]
I think [sp]traveler alec gets angry at past alec since he is not seeing at emily as he sees her, past alec looked very interested in knowing him, and know more of what's it like being a damn time traveler, but for the first thing alec is just an asshole and alec just is an asshole to him too.[/sp]
Sunday's episode was.. interesting.
[sp]Anyone think Keira might start seeing Liber8's POV? Obviously not as extreme as them, but the fact that a corporate run world might not be the best?[/sp]
I think Betty is going to get killed eventually.
[sp]I don't see a feasible way for her character to exist forever in an untrustworthy state with the police and Liber8 will eventually figure out her double-agent actions and kill her for it.[/sp]

[sp]The way I've seen the show played out since the start, Liber8's beliefs are 100% right and good but execution are 100% wrong while Keira's beliefs are 100% wrong and bad but constantly is doing good and right. It'll be interesting if these two start to melt into a gray area.[/sp]
