• A way to scan from the computer and not the scanner?

my scanner is broken. Pressing the buttons on it will do nothing. It's a really good scanner and I don't want to buy another one. The good thing is that it works perfectly fine, just not from the scanner. I used to have Windows Vista, wherein you could just go to photo gallery and click scan an image, but I recently got a new computer with Windows XP installed. Is there a dialogue box or program I could use to scan, since my scanner's buttons are broken? Google only produces crappy antivirus programs because of the word 'scan'.
The title is misleading, I thought you meant scan it actually on the computer.
Brand/series?
HP Scanjet G3110 (L2698A) Photo Scanner For some reason the buttons on the front/top of it just stopped working, and I'm not willing to open it up to fix them since the thing still scans anyway. I got it for about a hundred bucks a couple years ago.
I believe this is the same model on Newegg. edit: Yes, I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and such, but that's really the extent I'm willing to go to fix it. Like I said, it still scans, I'm just looking for a program that'll let me do so from my computer since the scanner doesn't actually do it anymore.
HP usually has a scanning utility for scanning to the computer. At least with their "All-in-one" printers.
I do believe I found the answer. It took some searching but apparently HP printers come with an HP Photo and Imaging Gallery thing which serves the same purpose as Vista's Photo Gallery. I'll reinstall with the CD real quick and see if I can get it to come up. [editline]05:09PM[/editline] Well, it reinstalled pretty quickly, but when I went to the HP gallery thing the scanner didn't show up on the list. Anyone else have any suggestions?
Just go to any second hand store. You can get scanners for a dime a dozen now. Also, is your printer/scanner so crappy it won't let you control it from the scanning utility?
I usually just use scanning software like Picasa or VueScan
Its possible to scan through Photoshop if I remember correctly. I don't have it installed on my computer currently but remember there being an option to scan.
I recently got a new computer with Windows XP installed.
wat
wat
I didn't say the computer was new, I said I got a new one, as in I purchased a gaming rig from someone who had a gaming rig to sell and it had XP installed on it. [editline]11:04PM[/editline] eh, shitty wording, whattaya gonna do v:v:v
Well, if I was you, I would install a new OS on it! a bit off topic there, but, meh.

On Photoshop you can do File -> Import -> (Scanner Device)
