Bus driver Terence Gavan manufactured highly dangerous firearms and explosives at the home where he lived with his mother in Batley, West Yorkshire. Police discovered 54 improvised explosive devices including nail bombs and a booby-trapped cigarette packet at the address. They also found 12 guns. The former soldier told detectives that he had "a fascination with things that go bang", the Old Bailey heard. But Gavan also had a "strong hostility" towards immigrants and planned to target an address he had seen on a television programme that he believed was linked to the July 7 bomb attacks in London. He told police he was a BNP member and letters to him from the party, as well as a copy of its magazine Hope and Glory, were found at his home. The court heard that hand-written notebooks were found, in one of which was written the slogan: "The patriot must always be ready to defend his country against enemies and their governments." Gavan pleaded guilty to 22 counts including collecting information useful for terrorism and possessing explosives and firearms.
Hang him.
Did they really have to say he was in the BNP, if it was a labour member they wouldn't of said "Labour member jailed .....". Just the news source wanting to ruin BNP's already weak image.
Why wouldn't we ruin them? They're gaining popularity, do you really want them in charge of the country?
The news isn't meant to be biased.
The news isn't meant to be biased.
I wouldn't really call this article biased.
News has and always will be biased. Live with it. And glad that cunt was found before he did any harm. WHAT THE CHRIST : Only 11 years? What did they think he was just building them up to make a model or something?
i guess it's relevant in some way, so why not mention he's part of bnp?
all bnp members are like this, no exceptions.
all bnp members are like this, no exceptions.
That's like saying all members of the Labour party are as stupid as Gordon Brown.
That's like saying all members of the Labour party are as stupid as Gordon Brown.
But they are as stupid as Gordon Brown.
a booby-trapped cigarette packet at the address.
ban cigarettes

Good, maybe this will hammer home the fact that the BNP is the party of racist, nationalistic nutjobs.
all bnp members are like this, no exceptions.
they may not all be terrorists, but they are all xenophobes and racists. It's sort of the BNP's platform
lol politics

A Nazi with a stockpile of weapons and explosives weird.
OP has the wrong picture
I hate the BNP as much as the next guy but 11 years before a crime even got commited? What the fuck is up with that. I could drive recklessly and take someone's life and get less than that.

He still lives with his mother. :geno:
I don't know how it works over in the UK but explosives are seen as dangerous and illegal around here.
I'm not saying they're not dangerous but I think the sentence is a little steep.
He still lives with his mother. :geno:
That's BNP members for you.
whats BNP?
I hate the BNP as much as the next guy but 11 years before a crime even got commited? What the fuck is up with that. I could drive recklessly and take someone's life and get less than that.
That's because discouraging people from stockpiling explosives and weaponry is generally seen as more important than discouraging stupid drivers. In some ways I agree, but I don't think it's all that steep, and the penalty for manslaughter due to reckless driving is too low.

What did they think he was just building them up to make a model or something?
He didn't do anything apart from owning them, you must remember that 11 years is still a long time.
Those guns and explosives were just preparation for the inevitable Muslim Uprising :downs: I really don't know much about British politics (or any politics for that matter) but I do know the BNP is kind of a dick to our 'type'
A bus driver. How ironic.
