I just wanted to know if this is really good stuff. Like would this last me like 8-10 years? I've had the computer I'm using now for about 8 years. and it's been able to play almost all games, As soon as Bioshock came out, that was the last latest game my computer would/could run. I just wanted to know if this was a really good build or not. Also, I'd actually build my own computer for way cheaper, but my dad has to have an AlienWare if we get a new computer.
waste of money
I really doubt it's good for the money you payin but how much you paying
Don't use alienware, build it yourself, you've already chosen the components, it'll be cheaper to order them from an online retailer and build yourself.
Rated funny. Seriousely, DO NOT buy an alienware, it'll cost you two or three times as much as it would if you built it yourself. With the same specs.
You should post the price. Edit: Ninja'd
I've had the computer I'm using now for about 8 years. and it's been able to play almost all games
That's not possible
Oh and PC's don't really last for upwards of 4 years, after that they can't do most new things.
-snip
That's not possible
He could have upgraded it, but I doubt it. Seriously dude, try to convince your dad to build one. Otherwise just buy from like cyberpower or something. Anything other than alienware.
... My "Frankenvaio" is 8 years old, was bought as an word processor and still runs all the games I want to... Then again, I don't care about most ultra-high graphics games and I don't mind running it on low quality. To make your jaw drop a bit more, It's got a gig of ram and an 8400 gs in it... and I still can at least SAY it runs almost any game... Now for content: Seriously, I wanted to do an Alienware pc a few year back, and was disgusted by their prices. If you must have a pre-built... Look elsewhere, otherwise, order the parts yourself...
Yeah well at the time it was the best you could buy, Did you guys read my post? I know I can build a computer for way cheaper, it's my damned father that want's the AlienWare not me! It's very possible, I never said I played Bioshock on all high now didn't I? It was the lowest it could go, it still had bit's of lag though, but it really wasn't noticeable. Oh and this computer at the time, was from Dell and it cost about 4,000$ dollars. My mom forced him to get it, if it wasn't for my mother, we'd still have the 1998 gateway.

If you dad is technologically educated (pretty rare) then he would know how much of a waste it would be to buy alienware. [editline]01:26PM[/editline] And you still didn't post the price.
First of all, Alienware = oh my god... Second of all, 8 years is a long time in this industry... Things will be completely different by then, I doubt computers will even be remotely similar then (what with all of the quantum computing shit being developed)
Yea... Post the price already... I'll see what you could get from other Pre-built places... someone else on the forum could probably point you to an "UBA PWNAGE build". Edit for more content: Drop the xeno card... it won't help at all Drop the sound card... You probably don't have enough speakers to need it
I need the sound card. I have 5.1 sourround sound, we got it with the computer were using now, it's actually THQ certified made by Lucus Arts, That's what my dad has been telling me for all these years so. The Xeno card, I agree, my dad told me to put it on, I'll probley take it off. The price is 3,000$ without the warrenty, with it, it's like 3,200$

Fun thing i found out about alienware is that when new drivers get released, you will need to wait for alienware to code drivers for your machine. And that can take months...
I know, but it's his money and he want's AlienWare, and to tell you the truth I don't give a shit, aslong as it's a good computer and I can run new games all on Ultra High. I'm Happy. It's his money not mine. [editline]01:21PM[/editline] Here are some pictures, Sorry for the huge pictures, Idk how to tag them. This is the whole setup, you can see the 5 speakers, theres a huge double bass to the right, but it's cut out. Heres the middle speaker, if you can see, it's really blury, it says THX and above that is says Lucas Arts. You can use the money you save to get even more extra stuff for your computer. Shit, you might even save enough to throw an SSD in there. How much was the AlienWare one in OP? Sorry if it was posted already, but I just can't seem to find it.
... That wont fly... 3000? I'm working on a build right now that's at least 2x as good that only costs 2500... It took me a while to wear down my dad to let me build it myself... but it's an monster of a computer and, to make it comperable to yours... All I need to do is wait for fermi to buy another 5870....
3,000$. For 3,000$, You can build a Core i7 295 GTX Build and still have like 1,000$ left over.
