• Computer SERIOUSLY overheating
    21 replies, posted
Alright guys. Just about half a year ago, I got myself a new laptop. A great Gateway P series. Now I'm having serious overheating problems. I used to only have them whilst playing Bad Company 2, but now I can't even play online flash games without a serious crash. Any ideas? Have cleaned it out several times from dust. Keep it on a flat surface Still haven't gotten a laptop cooler, probably will not do much. Running windows vista, 64x Quadcore processor
post the temps

My cpu runs at about 80 degrees c and my gpu at 75, I don't think it can get worse than that.
My cpu runs at about 80 degrees c and my gpu at 75, I don't think it can get worse than that.
I once had a laptop with a CPU that I saw reaching 90+
It at some points (using speedfan to measure) reaches 110 degrees. This is immediately before it crashes and dies a horrible death. Right now its running at 80 degrees, which is acutally pretty low (generally around 90 or more) Only temp which is not over 80 is GPU, which is at 50, but rising as we speak.
Clear dust and lint from your fan.
Clear dust and lint from your fan.
Read the first post. I clean it regularly, last clean last night.

I made a thread about my computer overheating a while ago, then my GPU caught on fire, no joke.

Re-apply thermal paste to the cpu.
Re-apply thermal paste to the cpu.
Ok. I've got no idea where I can purchase thermal paste (live outside Ottawa, if anyone got suggestions) and I've got no clue how to do so. Should I just bring it in to "the computer doctor" in the nearby village?
I think I found out why my cpu's so hot, the heatsinks falls off... Shitty Intel pushpin things >:|
Alright everyone, thanks for the help, I'm just gonna bring it to "The Computer Doctor" and he can do his thing.
laptop
is pretty synonymous with
serious overheating problems

no, buy some new thermal paste off newegg canada and reseat it the computer ''doctor'' is just going to overcharge you
I do not know how to apply the thermal paste, and I am unexperienced with laptops. I know this guy anyways, he will get me a decent deal. [editline]01:12AM[/editline]
is pretty synonymous with
Not helping.
He doesn't need to help, he can post here if he wants.
