uneXpect is a Canadian avant-garde metal band formed in 1996. They have seven members, which might seem like a lot, but considering that they have two vocalists, a violinist, and several guitarists(plus the standard bassist and drummer), it's all necessary for their fast, crowded, technical sound.

Their music originally had strong black metal overtones, but recently their sound has grown closer to progressive metal. The approach is entirely different, however - while progressive metal puts a focus on technicality, which often results in weird sounds, uneXpect put the focus on weird sounds, which often results in technicality.

They're one of my favourite bands currently. I there's any problem with their music at all, it's that it's so fast and complex that it's hard to get a handle on the music.

Yes I absolutely love Unexpect. one of my favorite bands ATM. If you like them you should check out Giant Squid also.
