The executive said they would be making decisions on Friday and throughout the weekend as they conferred within the studio, monitored news reports and spoke to theater chains. A spokesman for the Knoxville, Tenn.-based Regal theater chain told TheWrap, "We will continue to monitor the situation and adjust our security needs as necessary," but did not specifically respond to whether they might cancel screenings. A spokesman for AMC theaters did not respond to requests for comment. The film rolled out on 3,700 screens for midnight Thursday screenings, and is set to be seen in a total of 4,404 theaters, with a record 332 Imax screens. “The Dark Knight Rises” is Warner Bros.' biggest release of the year thus far. It was expected by box office analysts to open between $170 million and $195 million. That would make it the best U.S. opening ever for a non-3D movie. The film is also set to roll outon 6,765 screens overseas in 17 territories. "We extend our sincere sympathies to the families and loved ones of the victims at this tragic time." The Paris premiere was originally scheduled to take place on Friday. Would be a shame for them to stop showing it.
It's out of respect, i like this.

I think giving some money to help out the families of the victims with the hospital/funeral costs would be a bit more practical.
i understand that it's a respect thing, but you don't need to do that. maybe for the state of colorado or the denver area but not everywhere, it could cause a lot of revenue lost as well
I'm going to see it in three hours. They better fucking not.
How about just consider donating a percentage of the profit toward the families or a charity of the families choice?
-snip, misinformed apparently-
Oh wait making decisions today. Phew, my ticket is safe.
that's a really dumb way to go about respecting the victims why not have some sort of ceremony instead.
How about just consider donating a percentage of the profit toward the families or a charity of the families choice?
exactly, canceling the show date isn't going to help but giving some of the revenue can
That would be really dumb imo.
Warner is just a pussy.
That's ridiculous. That's like cancelling school all across North America due to the Columbine massacre. It's a tragic event, yes, but is this really necessary?
It's both a moral move and a business move. Leaving a movie running while the taste of a massive shooting is still in everyone's mouths leaves a unnecessary reminder for those affected and will cause box office ratings to tank.
Where is the source where Warner Bros. makes this statement?
Why? It had nothing to do with the movie.
I'll be pissed off if they do this. I'm going to see the Dark Knight Rises tomorrow and it'd suck if I couldn't. It's a tragedy, but there's no reason to shut down all viewings of the movie. It'd make a lot more sense for them to donate x% of the ticket price to the families of those affected by the shooting.
This whole thing wouldn't have happened if gun ownership was abolished in America. How many shootings will it take for them to realise? (User was banned for this post ("Has not learned a thing from his last ban." - Craptasket))
This whole thing wouldn't have happened if gun ownership was abolished in America. How many shootings will it take for them to realise?
Please don't start this
merge
Why? It had nothing to do with the movie.
Well, actually it kind of does. In the movie[sp]Bane opens fire on citizens in public places several times, including a stock exchange.[/sp]. Edit And that's their reason behind pulling Tv ads and canceling shows, while everyone is talking about the incident.
Only takes one guy to ruin it for everyone...
One douchebag to ruin it for all. Seriously, even his face screams "PUNCH ME!" Agreeing with someone else in the thread, maybe a set percentage of the movies earnings (like it won't make an insane amount) should be donated to the families who suffered in that horrible tragedy. I still can't believe something like this happened. Its overwhelming.
This whole thing wouldn't have happened if gun ownership was abolished in America. How many shootings will it take for them to realise?
don't fucking go there we don't need your stupid debates shitting up another thread
Why? It had nothing to do with the movie.
They're obviously fearing any bad PR that would surround this situation seeing that it's associated with one of their biggest releases.
Warner is just a pussy.
Ever seen the sniper kitty picture?
Really... Heath Ledger dies they don't stop that for a week or so out of respect but one guy goes on a rampage and ruins it for us all? seriously, more people in africa die than what happened there.... they don't stop holidays to africa. fuck if they do i swear i'll go to my cinema and do the same.
This whole thing wouldn't have happened if gun ownership was abolished in America. How many shootings will it take for them to realise?
Yeah so people can get guns out of country and bring them here (or obtain them other ways) have guns but then civvies will not have anything to defend themselves. Brilliant plan :downs:
Was following you until you said that.
cool story.
