The police departments of the USA took care of this in the mid 80s after a guy killed a bunch of police officers with a Mini-14, when all the Police Officers had were revolvers. Assault [I]weapons[/I], OP. Not assault rifles. Assault weapons are determined by cosmetic values like having a pistol grip and a folding stock on a rifle. Assault rifles are fully automatic and have been banned for some time.

The majority of the recent shootings, the weapons used were [b]stolen[/b], so any sort of gun gun control wouldn't have done literally anything. The recent shootings aren't a gun control issue, they're a mental health care issue.

It's called a "Light Machine Gun" because back then machine guns were over 30 kilograms and had to have an entire crew to use.

BAR's are very heavy rifles and they're very hard to fire from the shoulder unless you're Rambo (thats why it has a bipod silly goose). Just because it's automatic and magazine fed doesn't make it an assault rifle, else the AVT-40 would be one (It's not). The machine guns you see in WWI aren't LMG's, they're GPMG's. An assault rifle is defined as a rifle chambered in an intermediate caliber with multiple select fire modes. The Browning Automatic Rifle is chambered in 30-06, a full sized rifle cartridge. The BAR is not an Assault rifle.
