This recall involves 34 models of Samsung top-load washing machines. The washing machines have mid-controls or rear-controls. Model numbers and serial information can be found on two labels affixed to the back of the machine. The following model numbers are included in the recall depending on the serial number. Consumers should check with Samsung to see if their washer is recalled.
Samsung has received 733 reports of washing machines experiencing excessive vibration or the top detaching from the washing machine chassis. There are nine related reports of injuries, including a broken jaw, injured shoulder, and other impact or fall-related injuries.
Consumers should contact Samsung immediately to receive one of the following remedy options. Consumers can choose (1) a free in-home repair that includes reinforcement of the washer’s top and a free one-year extension of the manufacturer’s warranty; (2) a rebate to be applied towards the purchase of a new Samsung or other brand washing machine, along with free installation of the new unit and removal of old unit; or (3) a full refund for consumers who purchased their washing machine within the past 30 days of the recall announcement.
All known consumers will also receive a Home Label Kit that includes a control panel guide and additional safety instructions in the mail.
Until they have received and installed a Home Label Kit, consumers should only use the delicate or waterproof cycles when washing bedding, water-resistant and bulky items. The lower spin speed in the delicate or waterproof cycles lessens the risk of the washing machine top unexpectedly detaching from the washing machine chassis.

oh man..
Okay this is entering the sensationalist spectrum.
BREAKING NEWS: Thing gets recall
We get it, Samsung is having a shitty streak (deserved IMO), but things overtime start to fail.

Well to be honest Fiat Chrysler is still going strong despite it's negative press regarding Anton Yelchin's death.

This isn't sensationalist at all.

Yes it is lol.
Had the Galaxy Note 7 never have had a defective battery, Samsung having a shitty build quality wouldn't make the news everyday.

Despite how dangerous the Note 7 incidents, etc have been, it serves as an example of the public at large putting more scrutiny on manufactures.

I mean, is this really worth complaining about? You basically just explained why it keeps making the news, it's a pretty bad pattern with Samsung, which includes pretty major injuries/damages. Of course its going to keep making the news.

Just out of curiosity, were Samsung products often recalled previous to the whole GN7 thing?

How did Ford ever recover after the Pinto?

"it never happened to me so that means the recalls are bullshit even though it's based on the same fucking problem that's happening to devices everywhere pretty commonly"
We have one of the ones they recalled.
Actually we got the notice like a month or more ago, we're just waiting until they tell us what to do. (return/fix/etc).
Technically it's the "waterproof" wash setting that makes it swing around wildly and breaks it.
I'm surprised it's only being done now in the US. Down here, where we've had at least 5 house fires due to these catching fire, it's been at least 6 months since the ACCC forced Samsung to either recall or have these repaired in order for them to not end up as a fire risk.
Our washing machine is getting recalled. At least they're giving us 400 for a new one
Christ Samsung, the fuck are y'all doing?
I understand sometimes bad shit just happens but holy shit this is getting ridiculous.
What is quality control Samsung?

"Alright engineering teams, we're aiming for unseen levels of profit this time around, cut as many corners as you possibly can!" backfiring and exploding in their faces
And we just bought one a few months ago. Fuck.
My parents had a top loader that was old already and it broke off the chassis and spun a fucking hole into the concrete floor of the basement. Can't remember the brand, but it was Japanese. I guess it was inspired by Gurren Lagann.
