Steven Assanti, 33, stayed at Rhode Island hospital to get his weight under control. “It’s an addiction and I realize that, and it’s a disease,” Assanti told WJAR. Assanti said he’s been getting the help he needed at the hospital for the past 80 days. He said he’s lost 20 pounds. But after violating his care plan by ordering pizza, Assanti said the hospital told him he could no longer stay. “I was supposed to stay there and lose all my weight and get down to 550, to get the gastric bypass. That was their plan,” Assanti said. A spokesperson for Rhode Island Hospital told WJAR they can’t speak about Steven or any patient’s treatment. Assanti said he now lives in the trunk of his father’s SUV.
What the fuck. When you find yourself so damn fat that you end up living in the trunk of an SUV, maybe it's time for a change, wouldn't you agree...?! Damn. [editline]8th October 2015[/editline] 800 Lbs = 363 kg.
“I was supposed to stay there and lose all my weight and get down to 550, to get the gastric bypass. That was their plan,” Assanti said.
good job listening
Yeah, honestly, no sympathy for the guy. Like it's terrible to be this heavy but I'm sure he knew better than this.
good job listening
But that's my point, why would he ruin his chance for a normal life over a few slices of pizza? I think they should have kept him, but they should have provided some serious psychological assistance along with the gastric bypass.
if you realize its an addiction you should probably not order a pizza lol
if you realize its an addiction you should probably not order a pizza lol
To be quite honest, on that interview he doesn't sound mature at all, more like a manchild. And his father is the worst, for being an enabler.

Sounds like a 33-year-old male version of Honey Boo Boo. [editline]8th October 2015[/editline]
he violated their rule its clear hes not taking the recovery guideline anywhere as seriously, in which case hes wasting time and taking up a reserved room that couldve been better used for people who could be more committed
That's true, however... I think they could have given him a stern warning about his behavior, but I'm also thinking that the doctors considered that even after the bypass, he would certainly go back to his old habits and completely ruin the operation. No sympathy for neither of them, him and his father.
he will probably die in a few years at that weight anyway, might as well let him have the pizza and kill himself a bit more it's ok in the US his healthcare is coming out of his own money anyway
Doesn't sound like he really wanted to lose weight anyway
No harm done, he'll be dead soon enough. Save the resources on a person who actually wants help instead of a fatty who can't control their impulses.
You'd be kicked out of rehab for bringing/using drugs, so you should be kicked out of 'food rehab' for ordering a fucking pizza.
I found that to combat an addiction you could come up with an even stronger addiction to an activity, such as gaming. I'm underweight because I'd often rather trade goods in Elite: Dangerous or plant bombs in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. I'm such a fucking loser.
You guys have obviously not had a pretty bad addiction. This is along the lines of hording, ocds. This map needs deep psychological help, not condemnation. As ridiculous as it seems, this is the type of shit as to why people are shooting up places. Society rejects them in their mentally unbalanced state and they go rambo.

I'm going to guess this wasn't the first time he's tried ordering pizza, but we'll probably never find out because the hospital can't talk about a patient.
Assanti said he’s been getting the help he needed at the hospital for the past 80 days. He said he’s lost 20 pounds.
That seems a little fucky. He should have lost more than that if he had switched from soda to water in that amount of time.
If the stupid fat fuck wants to die of a heart attack then let the stupid fat fuck die of a heart attack, he only has himself to blame.
"non-compliant with treatment", kick him out. seriously, although i empathize with the helplessness the guy must feel, he's gotta take responsibility for his own actions; especially if they contradict the doctors trying to literally save his life with beriatric surgery.
A gastric bypass isn't going to keep his weight under control if he keeps up a terrible diet. I think that's part of the reason they kicked him out.
A gastric bypass demands a lot more self control than what he shows here. If someone with a gastric bypass binges their body can start purging/dumping (shitting and/or puking) until everything is gone. This stuff can be fatal if it happens often. And not in the way he's been slowly killing himself by gaining 600 pounds above a normal human, but like painfully die from internal bleedings.
You guys have obviously not had a pretty bad addiction. This is along the lines of hording, ocds. I could see it going either way.
if you realize its an addiction you should probably not order a pizza lol
Just like heroin addicts shouldn't do heroin right? The meaning of an addiction is flying over eveyones head [editline]8th October 2015[/editline]
I'm curious as to whether 'heroin addict kicked out of rehab for taking a hit' would provoke the same 'hahaha fuck him let him die' response that this is getting. Everyone in this thread is throwing away the work done to prove that eating can be an addiction just because "well I never experienced it personally so it must be not a real thing" [editline]8th October 2015[/editline]
A gastric bypass demands a lot more self control than what he shows here. Give the dude a fucking break
I'll be truthful when I say this. The 800 pound man doesn't look the least bit human.

I'll have a fresh start in life, so I'm spending some more time playing, to get sick of these games for now. It works.
I'm going to guess this wasn't the first time he's tried ordering pizza, but we'll probably never find out because the hospital can't talk about a patient. At that rate it would've taken him 2.74 years to get to 550 pounds. This was definitely not the first time he ordered pizza. This guy wasn't going to change his ways by being in a hospital, it's probably better to let him save his money eating at home to be honest.
Holy shit he's big - is it even possible for him to move his leg??
If the stupid fat fuck wants to die of a heart attack then let the stupid fat fuck die of a heart attack, he only has himself to blame.
The same thing could be said of literally any destructive behavior.
Uh I don't understand why some people in this thread can't comprehend how it's possible to have a slip in judgement? I used to be obese, I've lost over 100 lbs since then but I used to eat until I was uncomfortable to feel good, it's stupid to insinuate that he just "shouldn't have ordered a pizza", it's hard.
Domino's are doing a 50% deal at the moment, it's difficult to pass it up.
