hey everyone, this is my 3rd rocket question/thread. so far i've tried my camera 2 liter bottle rocket, and both times they have impacted and popped out the sd card(the second time broke the screen a bit). This time i've been working on the parachute design, and i've already built a really nice parachute and camera system. now, all i''m working on it is the delivery. i was wondering if this will be good enough to fly in the air as it already has. the lip in the middle could be a problem, but i'm not sure. I can inverse the lip, but it will be lower down. where should i put this? it's basically going to trigger a break in the rocket and the parachute slides out of the bottle itself, and unfolds, ect. thanks for all you opinions in the previous posts, and these in advanced =D
Facepunch is not your personal army And questions are for fast threads.
ho ho, fresh take on that phrase. Also, I believe there is not just one answer to his question, more a discussion on the best design.
How does this system eject itself to deploy the parachute? On rockets with engines, they have a charge that 'blows' the nose off. I'm thinking of a hook on the side, to which the camera is attached to. The propulsion force would keep the camera from going over the top and when the rocket begins to slow down, inertia would keep the camera going over the hook. Parachute w/ camera should be tethered to the rocket maybe as well?

Smart guy is smart. Try something better, go down to a hobby store and BUY some rocket-making equipment, and make a GOOD rocket before even thinking about putting a perfectly good camera on it. Oh and make sure the parachute actually works, and is big enough to safely drop the camera as well.

Estes (the biggest model rocket company) make rockets with little photographic and digital cameras in them. You could possibly buy one and use the camera in your rocket. It would cost a bit though, and it's only and idea it might not actually work.
Probably need a bigger chute.
