and I have about $130 for a new one, any suggestions?
Other specs and PSU? I would recommend 4870, 5770, recertified 9800GX2 (from that other thread), or a GTX460 if you could afford it. Resolution please, too.
450w PSU
4gigs of ddr2 ram
quad core @ 2.83
Win7
Nvidia 610i/7050 MoBo
1440x900 max res
and a 9800gx2 sounds awesome ima google it. and what thread btw?
With that res you can max anything on most cards in your budget, may i suggest the 9800gtx2 also
9800 GX2 is overkill for 1440x900.
Get a 4850 for $100.
9800 GX2 is a good deal, but the performance will only be great if the game supports SLI.
Well, I want longevity. Since I have no job and 16. I doubt i'll be able to upgrade anything anytime soon. And for that should I go with the 9800GX2?
Please leave your comments and suggestions and I'll love to read em tomorrow got to go to sleep for school
If you do go with 9800GX2, you are gonna need at least 550ish watts to be on the safe side. 450 is cutting it close. What is the model/brand of your PSU too?
I'l sell you my HIS 4890 OC in two months?

I think you should wait with buying a new graphic card. Wait till the 6*** series will come. I think many cards will drop in price.
Arg, i'm not a patient person :P
bump :(

Bad idea.
Bad idea to wait? Or just buy the 9800GX2 or does someone recommend something else?
So long as its a decent 450 Watt you'll be fine. And I meant its a bad idea to wait for the next series unless its being released in like a week.

Just be aware that you'll only be able to harness the full power of the 9800 GX2 if the game supports SLI.
Other than that you'll have the power of a 9800 GT. Which isn't bad at all.
How is the 9800GT compared to an 8800?
And also is there somewhere I can check which games support SLI?

9800gt is an 8800gt with small changes that don't affect performance
Thanks everyone for you opinion and help. Ima buy the 9800GX2 and upgrade from this 9400GT(bleh) :)
