Exactly the opposite, if I remember correctly medical studies show that there has been a significant decrease in violent activities around the world compared to 20/30 years ago.
Every single form of media has been the focus of this exact question, and the answer has always been no.
Violent media wouldn't exist if violence didn't exist to begin with.
Good article, presents both views nicely without any obvious bias towards the one or the other.
It comes nicely forth that video games seems to have absolutely no connection to violence according to most researchers, that the research done by APA is lacking and uncritical in it's choice of studies and that's it really just APA that's trying to push forth something nobody else seems to agree with.
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Can't believe this question still gets traction...

They'll keep asking the question until they can somehow twist it into being yes.

Do video games make people violent? In the same way that films and books do, yes. So no.
Also they should be asking if violent video games make people violent, not all games. Pretty sure playing CoD is going to have a different effect on people than playing Portal or The Sims. If any effect at all.
to be honest the people who call people out for violence in video games are usually way more fucking violent individuals than the people actually playing the games
"I fully acknowledge that exposure to repeated violence may have short-term effects - you would be a fool to deny that - but the long-term consequences of crime and actual violent behaviour, there is just no evidence linking violent video games with that," Dr Mark Coulson, associate professor of psychology at Middlesex University and one of the signatories of the letter told the BBC.
"If you play three hours of Call of Duty you might feel a little bit pumped, but you are not going to go out and mug someone."
The question about whether violent games inspire violent behaviour "in real life" is a subject that strongly divides opinion.
if video games really lead to violence, there would literally be mass murder in the streets
every school in america would currently be a war zone
the entire reason its so "Controversial" literally only is due to parent's who have shitty kids and fail to understand that it's because they are simply shitty people who can't raise kids properly, and use video games as an excuse. It's pretty easy to blame something like video games.
For how long are they going to beat this dead horse.
Oh it's the yearly "Video games=violence?" debate that gets disproved as usual.

You'll probably want to be able to see the ghosts then, in this case i would suggest LSD instead of ecsatcy.
Well, Depending on how long you want to keep it up, maybe just take both.
Can't believe this question still gets traction...
It's just one of those questions they pull out of a hat every year when they have no clue what to write about.
Yes. They do. If you don't believe me, play a round of competitive CSGO with a team of Russians or Polaks. If you don't become violent, you must have nerves of steel.
Oh fuck not this again
According to a source, the person behind the study has an agenda and has gotten in trouble from his peers.
do people make video games violent
Only thing that makes me "violent" about video games is frustration. A good game won't piss me off even if it's about murder and rampage. A bad game that's unfair and feels like a waste of time will make me angry because it's terrible and frustrating.
And even then it's more mild aggressiveness than actual violence.
couple decades late to this question, eh bbc?
