Is the Sony MDR-XB500 a reliable pair of headphones?

I'm looking to buy a pair of headphones and my friend recommended me these. Does anyone have these? If anyone does, are they reliable, and good for all around? (gaming, music, everything) (if they aren't, I'm looking for something around 45-60 dollars)

I've got them. They are simply amazing for any and all uses I've put them through. What types of music do you listen to?
I listen to pretty much everything.

Well, obviously the XB stands for Extra Bass, so bass heavy tracks will have your ears buzzing when it drops, but it's not overpowering like Beats by Dr. Dre.
Explosions will probably make a rattling too right?

I would assume so. I'll fire up a game and throw a couple grenades around for you.
Metal Gear Solid 2 causes some nice bass during explosions, as does Modern Warfare 2.
The HD428s might be for me then. I don't want a large amount of bass anyways.
Got the XB-700 myself and I love them. The bass is really nice.
If you listen to everything get all rounders.
