http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1542344/ This film looks absolutely fucking incredible, it's the story of Aron Ralston... who in 2003 got trapped in a canyon under a rock [sp]and had to amputate his own arm to escape after 127 hours[/sp] Check out the trailer http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi768149785/
You have no idea how incredibly late you are.
Meh, I done a search and it didn't show anything so whatever... lock and DDT I guess.
You have no idea how incredibly late you are.
I wouldn't call it late seeing as the movie gets a general US release 5'th November.
Sounds like it will be a very boring movie. Kind of like World Trade Center; it's an interesting concept, but it'd be better as a short film with what takes place in the film.
A good director can make even the most boring of topics appear interesting.
good point.
Gets released on my birthday, perfect. Danny Boyle doesn't disappoint me.
Just watched the movie. 10/10. Great film that really showed what he went through in the hours he was down in that crack. Plus the [sp] amputation scene really was a bit gruesome. I could't watch at that part because of me hating blood. Plus just hearing him screen and stuff made me think it was bad enough without watching it. But after he got out it was pretty amazing how he had to repel down a cliff with one arm. Plus the part where he was interviewing him self was pretty funny but then I felt bad for laughing.[/sp] If you can go and look this up at a theater near you and watch it.
Someone told me what he had to do in order to get out (the real guy from a documentary, not the movie). Snap the bone, cut the skin and flesh, twist the tendon apart, cut the nerves, all with a dull knife. No thanks. I'd be dead right now.
[sp] That is exactly what heppens in the movie [/sp]
Wouldn't the bone already be snapped eliminating 30% of the work? Or did he have to break his arm? uhguHGgu
Wouldn't the bone already be snapped eliminating 30% of the work? Or did he have to break his arm? uhguHGgu
[sp]The rock didn't smash his arm. It pretty much slide down it and put his arm between the wall and the rock. He was on the 5th day and just broke his arm to try and get out.[/sp]
The ending where [sp] you see him swimming, while half the screen shows the accomplishments the real guy did after was so epic I had to raise my fist in the air! [/sp]
Movie was pretty incredible. I've seen it about 4 times now. I couldn't watch the
amputation
scene the first time, it was a bit too much. I'm glad they stayed accurate but I really wasn't expecting it to be THAT accurate.

hes a real mans man
How is the actual guy doing now? does he have a prosthetic hand, if he didn't before he should be able to aford one with the royalties from this movie.
How is the actual guy doing now? does he have a prosthetic hand, if he didn't before he should be able to aford one with the royalties from this movie.
[sp] Well at the end of the movie you see the real guy and he is just sitting there with no hand so I guess he didn't get one. [/sp]
Going to see this on wednesday, got good reviews so looking forward to it. I found it a bit odd to cast James Franco, as he doesn't really have the most dramatic acting history, but aparantley he pulled out a great performance.
I remember watching the original story on the news shortly after it happened. Dunno how they're gonna make a movie out of it. I feel bad for the guy but is this really worthy of a movie? [editline]6th January 2011[/editline]
[sp] Well at the end of the movie you see the real guy and he is just sitting there with no hand so I guess he didn't get one. [/sp]
Yeah, he did. The Discovery channel special (I think it was on Discovery) showed him going back to the area and climbing through it again. He had a prosthetic hand.

Watch it for yourself and you will see.
He got a prosthetic. I read his book. It is pretty good. He still mountain climbs and stuff.
I just watched it. Woah damn. Great movie, but that one scene was cringe-worthy. Uuugh.
Definitely going to see it if I get the chance. Love James Franco and Danny Boyle is a great director.
I've heard the [sp]arm breaking[/sp] scene was meant to be pretty sick. I'll hopefully see it at the weekend or something.
The arm scene was a bit of a letdown. I was expecting it to be a lot worse than it was.
really I don't know why everyone's treating it as a spoiler. Anyone with a little interest in the film knows that's how he survived.

It's based on a real event and anyone that knows even the slightest bit about the film and real life event will know about the outcome. Still nice that people are being mindful of others.
