I seriously hope not. Fingers crossed that portable consoles will still be a thing in the future.
Nintendo's already practicing for it. http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1456216
Nah the 3ds is making loads of money still and the phone games are probably just the usual public corporation growth crap.
Nah, handhelds will always be superior. Why? They have actual buttons on the console itself, meaning that every game will be compatible with them. You can't guarantee that for the Sony XPeria-Dualshock combo, not to mention that's just streaming.

That's the biggest reason why I don't emulate games on my Android phone.

I wonder if they're worried about piracy and modding since it's a whole lot easier to do these things on a smartphone.

I love having half my screen taken up by human flesh rendering most of the game impossible to see.

Not the current ones that block the whole screen up mind you. It will be just like a handheld. What you are arguing is dev support on those buttons and standardising them which IMO is an excuse. It is 100% possible to standardise buttons with app developers and getting them to support and create games utilising actual buttons rather than constantly using the touch screen. There just isn't enough demand at the moment. And no one is pushing for it to happen. Heck Google could very well advance the idea with adding support for physical buttons on android, getting businesses to create intuitive light weight buttons that can easily attach to a smartphone and encouraging developer support and Boom, you have a business eco-system waiting to happen that could very well completely eliminate the need for game only hand-held devices.

Did you even read my post?

I don't play games on my phone. I use it for so many other things. It'd be a different story if I could get a peripheral with proper game controls, but I hate the touch screen controls. I am going to buy a New 3DS XL.
