"While the rest of the industry has been babbling on about the iPad and imitations thereof, Qi Hardware is actually shipping a product that is completely open source and copyleft. Linux News reviews the Ben NanoNote (product page), a handheld computer apparently containing no proprietary technology. It uses a 366 MHz MIPS processor, 32MB RAM, 2 GB flash, a 320x240-pixel color display, and a Qwerty keyboard. No network is built in, though it is said to accept SD-card Wi-Fi or USB Ethernet adapters. Included is a very simple Linux OS based on the OpenWrt distro installed in Linksys routers, with Busybox GUI. It's apparently intended primarily for hardware and software hackers, not as a general-audience handheld. The price is right, though: $99."
Here it is. The specs look decent, considering the price and size. It would be a great gadget to play around with. Hooray for open source!
I could get a pentium II system with the same specs for $20, why does this cost $99?
320x240 display is unsufferable. [editline]09:42PM[/editline] The whole hardware specifications are somewhat bad. I guess that's what you can get for 99$, but it's still too bad. The point was that it is ultra-portable, and completely open-source...as in the open mips architecture, design, etc. I'm sure there will be better revisions in the future, but it's a firm start. They're also the guys who made openmoko. I guess they're looking to expand their product line.

lmao its weaker than the iphone no thanks.
The point is that it's for tinkerers who happen to have a hundred bucks they forgot up their ass. For christ's sake, it doesn't even have Ethernet.

If it runs SD card wifi adapters I'll be picking one up because it'd actually be really useful to SSH while I'm at other peoples houses.(Always having to do it recently, keeping something going)
