Hey guys, I recently came to the realization that my PC is 5 years old and it shows, it can't run stalker on max graphics, let alone fallout 3 on low. Yep it's a piece of crap. So, I was looking to buy a new PC.
Because I'm going to get a job and dedicate all the money I make to it, hopefully over the course of this year and next if need be.
So with a budget of roughly $5000 ( I probably won't spend that much on the PC, rather some screens, headphones and other expensive stuff.)
What is the best you can get? At a reasonable level. (Not looking for NASA's super computer here.)
I'm hoping to get something that could run ANY game at max graphics, as well as be capable of running 3D modeling programs and the like.
( I doubt they're more system taxing then Crysis 2 at max, but still I'm not that aware of the system requirements of 3D programs.)
It should also hopefully be usable in 5 years time, not a medieval piece of crap.)
What do you guys suggest?
$5000 Is way to much to spend on a pc, spend $1500ish because it will become obsolete sooner or later. Where do you live and what store to buy from.

Also, do you need OS, keyboard, mouse, screen etc.
Uhm, okay I was predicting $5000 because I want to avoid becoming obsolete. I think $3000 is more reasonable as far as hyper powered PC's go. Also I'm using the G11 keyboard and a pretty heavy duty mouse, and one of those huge mac screens, so I'm good for the moment in that regard. OS will be upgraded to Win7 64Bit, and I'm gonna buy myself a X-Fi sound card and Expensive headphones.
It's really just the case and the innards I'm looking for.

If you want hyperthreading, get the i7-2600k. Its the only difference
So the details are summed up as thus by my computer simple mind.
4 Gb ram
GTX 570 Graphics card (That's good right?)
6Gb slot motherboard
i5 Quad processor
120 GB secondary drive
1 TB primary drive
DVD/CD Sata disk intake thingy (I don't know the name lol fail.)
That's very good for 1,800 ~
I was thinking a 200 Gb secondary drive, GTX 580/590, 12-16 GB of ram ( Bigger motherboard) and at least an i7 processor. Could anyone summarize a pricing range similar to that?
Also that case is my brothers... it's crap lol.

What's Hyperthreading?
Ehm. That motherboard has 4 slots, and supports up to 32gb of ram, what makes you think only 6gb?
The 120gb is a SSD, which is faster than a regular drive (And more expensive) you install windows on here and the most used programs, on the other, you put documents and games etc. (Big things). There's a CD/DVD Burner, two570GTX's in SLI (Working together) and a second gen intel i5. If you want a i7, go ahead and pay 100$ more. You won't notice it in gaming. Like i said, the only difference is hyperthreading, which means you can run two threads on one core. Almost no games have support for this so it's useless for gaming. You can also swap the case for something else. Myself i prefer the Haf 922.

Oh i see where you got the 6Gb from, but it's the max speed of the sata ports. 6Gb/s is used by SSD's, and 3Gb/s is used by regular sata harddrives.

And 4gb of ram is enough, you want to get 8gb or so when you do really heavy video editing etc.
[editline]9th June 2011[/editline]
And if you do heavy video editing, then the i7-2600k would be useful.
Uh, I got the 6GB of ram from my dad telling me a slot held 2GB of ram, and it had 3 slots. I'm not very tech savy. Also I plan to run games like Stalker with 20 gb mods so I want quite a bit of ram.
Slap your dad in the face and take no more advice from him. First that motherboard has 4 slots, and a stick of ram can be any power of 2, most common are 1gb or 2gb, but there are 4gb and 8gb sticks. And this is a good example, you dont need more than 4gb of ram to load 20gb of mods. You install stalker on the 1tb drive. Plenty of space.
My dad's sort of tech savy though, he built my computer and attends computer fairs and the like. I guess I misinterpreted him lol.

Snazzy case, definitly not my brothers now that I see a more detailed pic. I'll definitly look into buying this once I can afford it. Thanks!
Use this combo for the mobo + CPU (same parts, saves you $60) http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.657718
Edit: whoops, $20
but you get a free game
(thanks Darkebrz!)
Remember guys, I only have ~200 bucks atm, I think I might have to refresh this when I have 10x this amount...

Well if you're not buying this relatively soon, like within the next month, there's not much point in making threads about it now. Computer technology changes fast. By the time you have the money to buy all this stuff they could already outdated or prices could have changed significantly.
On an unrelated note, Jesus fucking Christ I hate typing on this fucking iPad I can't wait to get back to my PC.
Next time read the sticky:

By the time you saved up 2000$ Bulldozer (Maybe???) and Ivy Bridge will be out.
This thread was also for a friend of mine who can afford a pc, so it's not a 100% waste of time
