This whole thing is basically Forge, and possibly Custom Games if I'm read thing this right, for free. But you can only play matches with people you invite from your friends list.
"Keyboard & Mouse Support"
WOW WHAT A SICK FEATURE NEVER SEEN BEFORE
Just port the entire series to PC already

Maybe it's just bad wording but that's just uh.. digging for features isn't it?
I mean I'm pretty sure we kinda need that
But everyone kept telling me microsoft didn't care about pc gamers anymore
Okay so we get Forge.. what about the rest of the game?
Why not just put the whole game on Windows 10 for regular price?
Why the cocktese, Microsoft?
It seems strange to add just Forge to windows 10 and not put the game on Windows 10. Maybe it's a stepping stone to Halo 5 coming to PC in the future, especially since you can "Test and play on Windows 10."
I'm sure it'll be really helpful for the people who make stuff with Forge at least. Should result in some even more impressive Forge maps in Halo 5.
ya'll are looking at this wrong. the fact that they're simply doing this is an amazing start.
Well, it's one step closer to having a Halo game on PC again.
Be nice if they ported either of MCC/3/Reach to pc, though.
So we make levels for xbox one users I assume but we don't get to play the actual game

it's probably forza 6: apex thing
First party dev testing how the engine works on PC, so their ports arn't shit.
What is forge anyway ?
But everyone kept telling me microsoft didn't care about pc gamers anymore
As someone who worked at MS/Xbox they care a lot about PC.
Just the forge mode? What the fuck.
Will we be able to play the maps we make in a non-forge mode?

They're doing what Turn 10 is doing with Forza Apex; testing the engine on PC hardware outside of their own internal labs.
You mean the part that no one cares about? I'm really glad they're bringing the sandbox to Windows 10
hopefully they bring over arena too at least
Oh, Sweet. Halo 5 on PC!
hopefully they bring over arena too at least
Maybe once Halo 5 on Xbone is done getting its major monthly content updates we'll see the whole game come over.
i got an xbone already with this game but the fact that part of it is coming to pc along with halo wars 2 is giving me hope for more halo pc games
If/When any of the halo games come to PC, there goddamn fucking better be an option to have the crosshair in the centre of the screen instead of above it as on console.
What a cocktease.

Lets all build amazing levels that we can't play.
Do you think they will have custom map support like halo 1 did? Because i really did enjoy creating maps for that with integrated buttons for shields and bridges along with lights.
-snip my automerge-
Considering that but a great deal of halo comp is based on the limitations of controllers keyboard and mouse is actually a huge feature for a PC port

forge is basically their map editor
why will there be mod support for something that acts like mod support
Halo 5 forge has button support and all that too i think
The fact that it says "Test and Play" makes me think that they will be giving us a build of the Halo 5 engine for PC (albeit with features stripped, but the core mechanics and probably stuff like gamemodes will likely remain intact) . This means that a team might assemble like ElDewrito to get the game playable as a gimped version of Halo 5 :v:
I'll definitely at least take a look at the executable and stuff and to get a look at the Halo 5 file structure, I'm assuming it'll pretty much be a gimped Xbone port so the files and what not should be similar if not identical.

Forge has changed a lot since you might've last used it.
While you can't start a new map from scratch like Far Cry for example, you can now place terrain pieces on what's essentially a blank canvas map and make it completely unrecognisable. Whatever you have in mind there's probably a direct way or a workaround to make it. Scripting can be done with objects too, people have made stuff like an AI digger thing that tries to swipe at you to splatter you.
if your wondering what you can make in the halo 5 forge, here's some cool maps
