Now, anyone online can watch live high-definition video of marine life at the Mushroom vent, a 12-foot-tall (4 meters) chimney sitting 5,000 feet (1,520 m) below the ocean's surface. The HD camera is part of a $239 million National Science Foundation project to install a permanent, cabled observatory at Axial Seamount, an underwater volcano located 250 miles (400 kilometers) offshore of Oregon at the Juan de Fuca Ridge. Other cabled sites along the West Coast seafloor will help scientists explore earthquakes, climate change and methane deposits. There's currently plans to make more of these ROV's along the west coast and they will all be equipped with HD camera's that anyone can tune in and watch. Right now, it looks like they're just testing the cable that was laid down and hopefully, they go out and explore some neat stuff later on. I want to go deeper.
Looks like some of the fibre optic cables may of been damaged and they're currently assessing if they need to be repaired or replaced completely.
The OvB summoning ritual has been completed.
I love when they broadcast live ROV expeditions.

It says that in the article.
chimney sitting 5,000 feet (1,520 m) below the ocean's surface
it's just a few feet off but whatever
