I expect you all know what this is. For those who don't, you can create a petition and if 100000 people sign it Obama has to put out an official statement on the matter.
Daniel Tosh started the following petitions and at the moment they all have more than 1000 votes.
#1 – Pass a law to unite the Dakotas into one state.
One boring, cold state.
#2 – Get rid of all coins. And $10’s and $50’s. And while you’re at it, get rid of butterscotch hard candies.
This country doesn't need them. America’s got enough stuff in its pockets.
#3 – Grant instant U.S. citizenship to any Mexican who can make a killer fish taco.
Why does every fish taco have to have two corn tortillas per taco?
#4 – Make Bed Bath & Beyond mark everything down 20% and stop mailing out those stupid big blue coupons.
If everyone getting them, no one feels specials. And you’re killing the environment, that is a heavy card stock.
#5 – Force Dave Chappelle to return to television.
America loves and misses you Dave.
Sign them here.

This kind of shit is why politicians don't take this sort of medium seriously.
and the petitions next to them are petitions about getting people clean water, stopping budget cuts from effecting veterans and drug legalization.
Nobody really takes these seriously. People sign anything.

You do need coins so if the currency goes bust and is worthless you can melt the coins down into metals.
I hate Tosh

Ok, good
I don't want either of them.
Tosh is still stupid imo and if 10,000 of his fans actually sign this then it's a waste of people's time
Let's shit up the one official way of communicating with the government in a convenient and organized way, that'll get politicians to take We The People seriously! Yay, freedom of speech!
Okay Mr President, we've got We the People set up. Finally the public have an official, convenient way of getting involved with the process of government. Oh, there's a new petition already.
dakota is dumb lol
For fuck's sake.
Does he actually think he's funny? What a fucking douche.
Daniel Tosh is an asshat.
I too love going against the popular opinion.
Daniel Tosh is hilarious. His stand up is way better than his show but that's not saying his show isn't half bad.
Deathstar? Oh ya thats hilarious
5 non serious joke petitions, shitstorm
Don't ever change Facepunch

There's a difference between that one death star thing that was kinda amusing and then Tosh clogging up the site with 5 unfunny petitions that are likely designed just to make people recognise him and remark about how witty and clever he is. We had our fun with the Death Star, now let's be serious for a bit.
not a huge fan of tosh.o but his standup is pretty fucking hilarious.

I doubt he's doing it for himself. He's probably doing them to show how stupid this concept of petitioning the Whitehouse has become. They'll take the time to respond to stupid shit like the Deathstar but outright ignore serious issues that have reached their goals only to raise the limit and ignore it again once it reaches it.

That's assuming a massive amount of sophistication on his part and having seen his work I am very hesitant to do that.

Assuming an entire internet forum shares the same one opinion is dumb
just like that star wars petition
This kind of shit is why politicians don't take this sort of medium seriously.
It doesn't matter what question you ask, they are just gonna give you a political answer that doesn't really answer the question in the first place.

But if we use these platforms for actual legitimate grievances rather than treating it like another joke, they might realise that we want to be taken seriously for a bit. If they assume we're not really paying much attention anyway, they have no incentive to get their act together.

Which is exactly what people did as soon as the concept was introduced. Then the WH would pick and choose which ones to "answer" once they reached the goal and all credibility was lost. That's why it is now full of stupid shit like the Deathstar, deport Piers Morgan/Jim Carey, and Texan succession.
This is why I love Daniel Tosh, he gets people so mad with his sarcasm, he feeds off the negative opinions and knows he's a douche.
"We the People" was a huge joke from the start anyway. It's not like the administration was actually planning on modifying their agenda because of a bunch of petitions.
I like Tosh, will be sad that he's ending his career this year, and it doesn't look like he'll go out with a bang.

gave this interview back in 2007
"To ensure his career reaches the next level, Tosh posted a "Daniel's Groundhog Day" timer on his Web site that, at of the time of this interview, gave him 2,144 days, 10 hours, 20 minutes and 42 seconds to reach his goal.
'OK. That's just under six years, right? I'm not going to do this forever,' he says. 'When that thing expires, I'll either put a bullet in my head or just retire to a beach somewhere.'"

Maybe he was thinking about it back then, but now? I doubt he'll just end his career right then and there, he's too young, and has way too much potential.
